 January 2017 Archives

I wonder if that would really happen?  It's been decades since I've even SEEN any weed, but it's an interesting thought!

   HAPPY  NEW  YEAR!!!!!                                                   1-1-2017

The New Year is now 27 minutes old. I am not at all sorry to see 2016 come to an end and a new glimmer of hope on the horizon.

The best thing about 2016 being over by far, is that the Obamas will be out of the White House in less than 3 weeks. Just KNOWING that, is like having a 50-pound bag of sand removed from your chest , allowing your lungs to fully expand for the first time in 8 years. Trump may not be the remedy we hoped for, but he absolutely can not possibly be anywhere near as horrible as Obama has been or Hillary WOULD have been. My son and I go back and forth on this, he thinks Trump will be WORSE than Obama and Hillary. I'm not going to say that Trump might not be just another Liberal, but I am at least willing to be hopeful and give him a chance.

I think that what  I wish to see the most, is the PEOPLE make an effort to be informed and to hold our representatives accountable.  I want to see the People "Get It" that they are not at the mercy of government and politicians, it is really the other way around, and we have a duty to exercise the power that was granted us by the framers of the Constitution. We can never again, allow an administration to run amok like this one has.

This afternoon, I took my husband out to lunch in a small, Massachusetts town.  It's only 25 minutes from here, but it has managed to retain it's old-fashioned, New England, small town flavor and appearance. Their population is probably just about twice what ours is, and the residents are country folks, lots of jeans and workboots, a nice local diner, Community Center, Library, Churches, small businesses, etc. Missing from the picture are the Froo-Froo Organic Eateries, Head Shops, and Tourist Attractions.

I got chatting with the waitress, a woman in her sixties with a bit of a rough edge, but very friendly and personable. She's lived in the town for 40 years and is very happy there, so I asked her if there had been any influx of Liberals from NY City and Connecticut. Had her town experienced any of the bully-tactics from these folks that WE have, attempts to change the government, force Green Agendas, etc. She was surprised, and said, "Absolutely NOT! ".  She went on to tell us that the people in the town would never ALLOW that to happen ! Ahh, and because the residents have resisted in unity, they have been successful in keeping their town whole and strong in it's rural traditions. It isn't an enigma , folks, it's really very simple.

Like most small towns in America, newcomers are welcome, but unlike New Lebanon, most of them will fight to retain their country character and object to things that bring in more regulations and too many "Specialty" businesses that attract no one but more city people and tourists. We talked about town and school boards, and how the city people love to gain seats on these boards in order to more easily manipulate the workings of the town and impose more Liberal ideology and control. The waitress actually got a little heated just thinking about that, and again said, "No, that would never be allowed to happen here." She was quite appalled at what has been allowed to happen in New Lebanon. As we should ALL be.

The New Year has arrived, our new Town Board has had a full year of successes and made some terrific improvements and decisions. In 2017, we need to see more long-time locals attend meetings and get involved in the workings of the town. We should encourage our teens to attend and to take an interest in Civic Education, and we MUST pay CLOSE attention to what is happening in regard to our land use rules, government grants, Green Programs, etc. We must stand up and say "ENOUGH" to these people who come here and strive to implement restrictive laws and rules, like the "Climate Smart Community " project and tourist attractions like "Behold New Lebanon ".

We MUST see to it that limits are set upon programs like these, as well as the number of acres we can afford to allow to become Tax Exempt via Conservancy Programs. Every time another Greenie project is put into practice, it affects out taxes and our freedoms. Get involved this year.

I wish a Happy and Healthy New Year to ALL of you, Liberal AND Conservative, and may we come together in 2017 for the actual GOOD of the ENTIRE town.

  Organizational  Meeting                                                    1-2-2017

This was my 10th Org. Meeting. I haven't missed one since 2007, and I have seen some very crazy ones, believe me.

I remember some O.Ms that went for almost 3 hours, with arguments and objections re: people selected for appointments and people who were passed over. Yes, there have been some loud and rowdy meetings in the past.  99.9% of the time, the issues were the result of Bruce Baldwin and/or Doug Clark not getting their way.

Year after year, I watched Supervisors get beat up by those two, none more than Meg Robertson. I'm told that it was far worse for Eileen Godfroy when she was Supervisor. She was often bullied to tears by certain male, board members.  Colleen will truly be the first female Supervisor that will not be subjected to abuse, because our present board is filled with decent men. I don't believe for a minute, that any one of them would allow another to be out of line with Colleen, and I also think Colleen can hold her own against any attacks if necessary. She IS Irish !

Chuck Geraldi was the only councilman missing tonight, and there were only 6 members of the public in attendance. Cynthia Creech, Jeff Winestock, Cissy Hernandez and her significant other, Bob and myself. That was it. Odd. It was the most sparsely attended O.M that I have been to. Could be that folks are a lot less worried about the candidates for appointments now that we have a responsible board. There was only one that I would have objected to if I could have, but I have no right or power to do so, and I didn't.  All in all, it's a darn good list of folks !

The meeting went like clockwork, and it was over in less than an hour. We all got a tour and saw the awesome renovations that the board members and Town Hall employees accomplished over the holiday break. Gorgeous new flooring, fresh paint, repaired holes, pipes relocated to prevent the yearly freezing issues, etc. Terrific work of love, and it's a pleasure to see. Not quite completed yet, but already it is awesome. High-Fives to all who worked so hard!

There was only one glitch tonight, and it wasn't really a problem. Apparently, the heating system quit. Yup, the terrific HVAC unit in the new meeting room that is too loud in summer and obviously not operable at all in winter. LOL!! It wasn't uncomfortable in there, but it makes one wonder what exactly we got for all that money Mr. Benson was so anxious to spend. SOOO much money and the board was still forced to pre-heat the room with a blast heater before the meeting tonight. Interesting.

On the 24th of this month at 6:30, the first Tri-Board Meeting will be held. Town Board, Zoning Board, and Planning Board will all meet together to build better communication. I think this is a great way for things to get done in a cooperative manner and for members of all three boards to build rapport. Not that there are any issues among them now, it's just a smart, new practice that will take place quarterly. Streamlining, if you will. The meeting will be open to the public.

 TRYDA                                                                                1-3-2017

Strange word ?  Not really. You hear it many times a day.  It's the way we Americans say, "Try To".

"I'll TRYDA get that done today."   "I'll TRYDA do better."   "I'll TRYDA save more money this year."    Yup, we all TRYDA every day, but how often do we DO what we say we'll TRYDA do? Not often enough.

I have been advocating for my fellow humans since I was just a kid, and in all these many years, I have seen very, very few people that are willing to go out on a limb, even just a few inches, for someone else, if it means making themselves uncomfortable, or inconvenienced. Not many people are willing to take RISKS anymore, or follow through on their promises. I see it as lack of courage and character, as well as selfishness. Others might see it as Playing It Safe.  I ask, "What good is living if you are obsessed with safety ?"

If I had a shiny nickel for every time others have promised to stand with me, then left me standing alone, I would be a wealthy woman today. LOL!!  That's no exaggeration, it's TRUE! Kinda sad if you really dwell on it, but why dwell on losers and quitters? Imagine if George Washington, or Martin Luther King, had been quitters, all talk and no walk. Or JFK during the Cuban Missile Crisis. What if Jonas Salk had said, "I'll TRYDA find a cure for polio, but if I have to miss my favorite TV show, it will have to wait." ?

When I turned 40, I suddenly realized that my parent's promises of "Life will go by quickly", were all too true. I had done a lot in my life, some I was very proud of, some not so much. LOL!! Yet I wondered why I had not done more, and I thought about all the times I had said "I'll TRYDA" in my life. It was time to change that. It was time to follow through with obligations and promises, or not make them at all. At that point, I had never heard of a "Bucket List", but I decided to make such a list anyway, it just wouldn't have a name.

20 years later, I haven't completed that list, but I've made a LOT of progress and scratched off a good number of TRYDAS. There are some things I've done that I never believed I would or could ever do. Things that required much more courage and assertiveness than I thought I was capable of, but as I pushed myself through the fear and uncertainty, I was surprised to see that I was becoming more and more fearless through the actions I was taking. Sometimes I think that my lack of fear is detrimental, and it probably is, but for the most part, it has served me well, improved my life, and strengthened me for the most difficult battles we face in our lives.

We are all capable of so much more than we believe we are. Being Americans, we have the extra advantage of having the Freedom and Right to attempt, say, and do things that people in other places cannot or will not do for fear of government retaliation. Which is why it is SO vital that we protect those rights with all our strength, every day that we live. We can never allow our speech to be suppressed, even if it "Offends" someone. We must never allow our 2nd Amendment rights to be taken away from us, even if some people think we should not have firearms. Every single right and liberty in the Constitution is vital to our freedom and our ability to accomplish things that MATTER.

We're looking at a brand-new, blank-slate called 2017. Opportunities to do GOOD things, to make a positive difference in our society, abound. Whether you approve of Donald Trump or not, let's give him the benefit of the doubt that we gave Obama when he was first elected. Let's "Wait and See".  Decades of Liberal Democrat Leadership have done nothing but weaken, demoralize, and embarrass America and her people. Why not give this guy a chance and see what he does, or does not, DO ? In reality, he is NOT a Republican President, he is a LIBERAL President, who may or may not have come to the center. NONE of us knows for certain what kind of leader he will be, but if he meets both sides half-way, would that be terrible?

All of us need to be willing to step-up this year and DO something to assist in strengthening our country, economically, morally, racially, militarily, and Patriotically. Anything you promise to do, no matter how small, be willing to carry it through. Don't TRYDA do it, just DO it. The changes you will see in yourself and in your life will astound you!

                            ##########################

So, Andrew Cuomo , Bernie Sanders, and Chuck Schumer are following Obama's lead and attempting to cause as much destruction as possible before the new administration takes over. FREE college?  LOL!! Hmm, I wonder just WHOM they think is going to pay for FREE college? Did YOU go to college for free? I didn't. I worked full-time and went to school part-time, while managing to pay rent and utilities on my apartment and upkeep on a car ! At 17 !

That should not be a noteworthy accomplishment in America, it should be the NORM. Let's be honest here, college is WAY more expensive than it needs to be, and in most cases today, it isn't even necessary. Bernie Sanders and Cuomo would strongly disagree with me on that, but they're not exactly realists now, are they? Unless you intend to be a doctor, lawyer, or work in technology, you don't need to go into debt for college and pay high interest rate loans for decades. If they really wanted more kids to go to college, they would do something about the costs, make it easier for kids to pay back their loans, and charge tuition on a sliding scale, but FREE? Umm, NO. No one learns responsibility by being given everything for free. That is apparent in the Welfare Society, isn't it?

Community Colleges should be low-cost and accessible to all who wish to attend, by using that sliding scale. Private colleges shouldn't even exist, because 95% of them are nothing less than Liberal Indoctrination Centers, and have been for decades. What we NEED, is Trade Schools !!!  Cuomo wants any kid whose parents earn 120,000 dollars or less a year, to go to college cost-free, while those of us who work 40+ hours a week for a 60,000 dollar-a-year income, pay the freight? How does that make sense? How is that FAIR ? Any of you Fairness-Minded Liberals have an answer for that?

My first year as a Police Officer, I made $8500. For one of the highest-risk jobs there is ! Today, 16-year-olds want $15.00 an hour to work the drive-thru window at Taco Bell. Then they want FREE college, too? Is it any wonder we are seeing such weak little wimps among our younger generations? It boggles the mind that people in political offices are that STUPID. Or that devious. So don't just TRYDA object, DO it.

What do you think about Cuomo not giving the State of the State in Albany this year? I know people in the NY House that are livid. Insiders say that Cuomo is doing this so that he can pander to Special Interest and Minority Groups on their home turf, out from under the prying eyes of the general public. Makes perfect sense to ME, knowing Cuomo's black heart as well as I do. Schumer, well, he is just as abominable a human as we could have as minority leader. Worse than Silver ever was. Never forget that Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are thick as thieves, (which they ARE), and that he is a dangerous, sneaky, little man. He is also another anti-Israel Jew. He owns guns and visits the shooting range often, but wants YOU disarmed. The list goes on, and ON.

On the upside, the new administration is already investigating methods and costs to complete the border wall. I'm surprised, I didn't think Trump would keep his word, but again, wait and see. The bottom line is folks, Trust NO ONE. Trust must be EARNED through actions, not words or empty promises. I've learned the hard way, that what a person DOES is the best indicator of who and what he IS, and words are cheap. Hence, my tendency to vote for Democrats in New Lebanon, but not at the state and federal levels. Character COUNTS, HONESTY counts, and keeping one's word, COUNTS.

Be an Oathkeeper this year, and TRYDA to make a difference for future generations.

Town Board and GUNS, Again                                        1-10-2017

Good Evening Fellow Residents of New Lebanon.  I had a whole different blog planned for tonight, but then the meeting got interesting. No biggie, we can start discussing Cuomo and the state of our state tomorrow night. LOL!

Tonight's meeting was very well-attended and a bit long. A lot of time was spent on the logistics of the future of Solar Power and Solar Fields in New Lebanon, how to deal with it in reference to Zoning and aesthetics, etc., etc. Very involved but not at all boring. Solar is a very good thing in my own opinion. Even though I am strongly against many environmental projects, solar and wind energy are certainly not objectionable.

Which brings me once again to the "Climate Smart Communities" push by Bruce Shenkar.  Yes, that proposal that was heard and voted against twice in 2016 will be heard once AGAIN at next month's meeting. Why ?  Well, I suspect it might be because there could be some funding for the implementation of the solar project included in the Climate Smart deal. So what does that mean?

I guess it depends on what side of the fence you're on. For ME and others who are plugged-in to the reality of environmental extremism, it is terrifying. Oh it SOUNDS good, as we all like the idea of being responsible with our natural resources and in keeping a clean, toxin-free community. However, the hidden evils are too numerous and oppressive to not be carefully considered.

Government gives NOTHING for NOTHING. Everything it gives, it first TAKES from someone else, and everything it GIVES, comes with a tangled web of strings attached. Grants come with specific requirements and demands, and environmental programs sponsored by ANY level of government, are the worst. Weighing the pluses against the minuses is vital!

So let's look at this hypothetically. Let's say that we pass the Climate Smart Communities proposal and it does in fact, provide some funding to help us implement the solar fields. Okay, great. Now, what do WE as property owners, have to do in exchange for that funding? Will we be required to give up our outdoor wood furnaces and put filters on our barbeque grills? Can we let our vehicles run to warm up on cold winter days? What if we have water on our property, and accidentally toss some dead leaves, grass clippings, or branches into the water? What if that water is eroding our property so badly that we are forced to dump some rocks on the banks. Will we be fined for that?

What about people who own livestock and those animals defecate or urinate in close proximity to the water? Will Cynthia Creech be ordered to put catalytic converters on her cow's asses to cut emissions? Don't laugh, they're trying to do something like that in California as I write this! How about trash removal? Will gray water, pesticides and fertilizers, be outlawed?  Will WE be the next town to be forced to get rid of our light-bulbs and replace them with expensive LED bulbs? How about the Speedway, will the exhaust fumes become another issue for Howard Commander?

The list of possible, oppressive requirements associated with the Climate Smart Communities program is endless and I could go on all night, but hopefully, you get the gist. Even certain businesses that we NEED in this town, could be banned. Is a few dollars of funding worth the loss of so much freedom? Do we ALWAYS have to please and cowtow to the Liberals? We have the CDC, the CAC, the EDC, the Zoning Rewrite Committee, the Designated Waterways, the Shaker Swamp Project, and on and on and ON. When is enough going to be enough?

We have a looney woman who thinks our town should be a "Living Museum of Rural Life" , Tree-Huggers who want to dance in circles and beat on drums, kids being taught that the Earth is their MOTHER, transplants who want zero noise and are willing to FORCE noise ordinances on local businesses and residents. We have lost an enormous amount of tax income due to Conservancy Projects and Protection of wetlands as small as 10 feet by 10 feet! We have to work around butterfly habitats, and invade quiet neighborhoods with tourists who want to see a swamp that was never originally a swamp at all. Is anyone else seeing the ridiculousness of all this? Is anyone else wondering what impact all the extra traffic of these visitors coming and going to these "Nature Nazi Sites" is having on their precious bugs and butterflies? GEEZ! ENOUGH already!

The Climate Smart Communities proposal has been heard and heard, considered and considered, voted DOWN and voted DOWN. Seriously? We have to sit through this B.S AGAIN in February because ONE man wants it? Go ahead and remain silent on this issue, but don't whine when the regulations come knocking on YOUR door!

                   ###################################

Tistrya Houghtling reported tonight that 16 families and 27 children benefited from the Christmas Toy Collection last month. Awesome! She has now proposed a "Free Store" for an open office space on the second floor of the Town Hall. Donations of clothing, shoes, etc. would be accepted and made available to the town's needy families. I remember when the Congregational Church had it's Thrift Shop, and allowed those in need or anyone who lost items to a fire or flood in their home, to take whatever they needed for free.  It was great, and a lot of people were helped. We NEED something like that again.

Tistrya would like to have this up and going in a couple of months from now and it would be a trial run for 6 months. There were concerns expressed that we might run into the same issue of people dumping bags and boxes of junk at the door as they did at the church, but we'll have to wait and see how it goes. Hopefully, that won't become a problem and the Free Store will succeed. Good idea, Tistrya!

Jerry Grant has stepped-down from his Planning Board position and he will be missed. There is now an open seat on that board that will be advertised. Monte Wasch of course, already submitted a Letter of Interest as he does for every opening on every board, but the motion to appoint him failed.  No comment, as I don't think I need to say a word about THAT. LOL!!

The "Behold New Lebanon" so-called "Mural" has finally been removed!!!!! Praise the Lord! I still feel that they should have been fined for defying the decision of the Planning Board. Anyone else would have been. I could understand that if Behold actually did something good for the town, but that's not the case.

Scott Larabee has also resigned as Recreation Leader in Chief. LOL! ( Gotta rib him a LITTLE!) Scott will be missed there, as he had some really awesome ideas and he was dedicated, but he didn't have the help and cooperation he needed. Now, with his dad putting in fewer hours at the business, he no longer has the spare time. Thank you,Scott, for the hard work and personal time you put in!

I also need to mention Ted Salem and all those who have worked with him to do the difficult research involved in the solar project. It was definitely no small task!

On the 24th at 6:30, the first Tri-Board Meeting will be held with the Town Board, Zoning Board, and Planning Board all meeting together. Open to the public, of course. On the 25th at 7 p.m, there will be a meeting at the High School Library that all veterans and their families should try to attend. New Lebanon is the ONLY school district in the county that does not offer Veteran Exemptions re: School Taxes. There is a surplus in our school district's funds and no reason to NOT offer these exemptions.

Some people are concerned that younger, healthy, employed veterans should not receive exemptions, but that isn't how it works. There are categories, such as Disabled, Senior, etc. The exemptions would be commensurate with the service. In any case, New Lebanon needs to get on board here!
                       ################################

Of interest to holders of Concealed Carry Permits, is the 2017 implementation of a facet of the NY Safe Act that requires all permit holders to renew those permits every five years. Umm, NO.

The Safe Act is 100% unconstitutional and the Governor, the Legislature, and the Judges who deemed it Constitutional, all KNOW it is not. It is a blatant violation of the 2nd Amendment, but as long as we have a liberal Democrat as Governor, the Safe Act will never be repealed. So the answer is to dismantle it one piece at a time, and this is one piece that must NOT be complied with.

Apparently, this process is the responsibility of the NY State Police, but the article I am posting below claims that the NYSP are not even close to being prepared to carry through.  In any case, the deadline is not until January of 2018, and that is more than enough time to object and delay, or delete, this requirement.

I received my permit in 1980 when I became a police officer, and I have never, ever had an issue or problem. Why then, should I be required to re-certify for something I earned, respected, and responsibly owned for all those years? In reality, the requirement of procuring a permit at all, is unconstitutional. It makes SENSE, for reasons of public safety, that anyone who wishes to purchase a handgun be subjected to a criminal background check, but that is ALL. Renewals? NO. Not unless the permit holder has been arrested or proven to be criminally or dangerously , mentally ill, since first being granted a permit. Law-Abiding, responsible permit holders should not be held to this ridiculous, burdensome, and expensive requirement. Nor should NY Taxpayers be charged with paying for this stupidity.

Madison's Militia is already hard at work in cooperation with numerous other grassroots groups, to STOP this renewal requirement. Anyone interested in assisting or taking part in this effort, please contact me at: PactJJ@gmail.com. We need gun owners to sign the "Non-Compliance Alliance" Petition and distribute it to others. For more details, go to Madison's Militia on Facebook.

                          ################################

It's time to talk seriously about the future of NY, the character of our leadership, and how we can improve this state for ALL residents, not just for the Democrats. I will be meeting with Congressman Faso next month, as well as numerous other, Republican representatives and I welcome the input of others who would like to help affect the change our state so badly needs.

About Andy....                                                               1-11-2017

How does a person such as Andrew Cuomo become the Commander-in-Chief of an influential state like New York ?

I think the answer to that question is both simple and obvious. Corruption, Cronyism, and Cash. In perusing the list of Cuomo's top donors of recent years, I found it to be far more surprising than I expected it would be.  In fact, I didn't even know that it was legal for some of these groups to make political donations ! Police Benevolent Associations, for one. Fire Departments for another, and the list goes on. If nothing else, the list of donors gives you an idea of where Conservatives should NOT spend or donate their hard-earned money.

Considering the shamefully huge sums donated to Cuomo's campaigns, it is little wonder how he manages to be repeatedly elected to public office. There is SO much money involved, that one has to wonder just how many people could benefit from even a small percentage of it.

Like all states, NY has its share of homeless and impoverished citizens, many of whom are Veterans, Seniors, and children, to name but ONE social issue. Instead of funding these needs, millions are spent on cut-throat political campaigns. Wouldn't it be nice if for every dollar donated to these Hate-Fests, one dollar was used to house the poor and homeless? To feed the hungry ? No, this is NY where only Liberal Programs and Special-Interests matter.

We have a Governor who came right out and publicly stated that Conservatives, Patriots, and Christians are unwanted and unwelcome in the state of NY ! We ALL heard it, and there is no denying that he said it. In NY State, there is no place for a Moral People.  Cuomo denies that there are two, profoundly different New Yorks. Upstate and Downstate are opposite worlds and he does not concern himself with that reality. No, Mr. Diversity and Tolerance is anything BUT diverse and tolerant. He does not deserve anyone's support, and NO politician of any party, deserves or needs the amount of money they receive for campaigns. We need to demand limits on this insanity.

In NY State, there is less freedom than the residents of California enjoy. Our lives and our futures are literally in the hands of NY City, Liberal Democrat politicians and voters and their looney views. There IS an honorable effort in place called, "Divide NY City and Upstate NY". I would LOVE to see that happen and I wish this group the best, but I don't see it ever succeeding. It was for this reason that I declined their request to be their Columbia County Organizer. It just cannot happen. There are other things we CAN do, but that's a story for another day.

In the meantime, we should be taking a very close look at Andrew Cuomo and why we must never allow him to be elected to a political office ever again.  I look into Cuomo's eyes and I see, cold, black marbles completely devoid of light and life. I listen to him speak and I hear the threatening shouts characteristic of narcissistic tyrants throughout history.

There are many photos and videos of Cuomo back-slapping Catholic Priests and entering and exiting the Catholic Church near the Capitol. Mere hours after these photos were taken, Cuomo was speaking to the public and demanding abortion and same-sex marriage rights. Does it get any more hypocritical? Yes, yes it does!  Andrew Cuomo comes from a long line of old-time La Cosa Nostra thugs. The "Family" structure of the Mafia may be in the past, but the tactics are alive and well. Mix that level of corrupt money and power with a deadly dose of Liberalism and what do you get?  You get New York. A state led by dirty, self-serving,greedy, oppressive, and bully leaders.

There are four areas where NY State ranks #1 in the country:

                          1) The Most Politically Corrupt
                          2) The Most Liberal
                          3) The Least Free
                          4) The Least Spiritual/Religious

(I didn't even mention the Tax Rate)  These are not MY opinions, these are facts based on 2015 statistics. Look it up. In 2016, for every one person that moved into NY State, TWO moved OUT. The number of people that I know personally who have left this state since 2013 is incredible. They have gone to Tennessee, Kentucky, Idaho, Montana, the Carolinas, and Maine. I have numerous acquaintances that are preparing to leave in 2017 and many MORE who want  to leave but cannot afford to relocate.

For Liberals, Millennials, Minorities, Immigrants both legal and illegal, homosexuals and the countless variations of the LGBTQ society, and wealthy Democrats, NY is Nirvana. For Conservatives, Christians, Patriots, Constitutionalists, and what remains of the working, Middle Class, it is HELL. Congratulations Dems and Rinos, mission accomplished! Do you still wonder why it enrages me to see these people invading our rural, upstate towns and imposing their lack of values upon us?

When American voters elect bad men like Obama and Cuomo and then actually RE-Elect them, it is a neon sign that American society is no longer a moral, intelligent, or honorable one. It is the result of the failure of our schools to adequately teach accurate American History and Constitutional Law.  It is proof of the failure of our churches and clergy to promote values and traditional family life. The American Left has become the symbol of immaturity, selfishness, weakness, deviance, and ignorance.

In 2013 when the NY Safe Act was passed, there was massive outrage from Conservative New Yorkers that were rightfully LIVID about this violation of their God-Given Rights. Not only was the Safe Act forced through via the Message of Necessity that it did not qualify for, but it was passed in the middle of the night without the people or legislators being given any opportunity to read or debate it.

The Safe Act passed ONLY because we had a Democrat Majority at the time who did not CARE what was in the law, what it might mean or cost, or that it was an unquestionable Constitutional violation of the 2nd Amendment rights of the people of NY. They would retain their own firearms, their own armed security, and whatever bribes or payoffs they received in exchange for voting with Cuomo.

Truth be told, the Safe Act would never even have seen the light of day had it not been for Obama and the 2-hour, dirty deal he and Cuomo made on a cold, gray day on Long Island. Tomorrow night, we'll talk about THAT!

7 Harsh Realities Of Life Millennials Need To Understand

Tyler Durden's picture

by Tyler Durden

Mar 10, 2016 11:55 PM

Millennials.

They may not yet be the present, but they’re certainly the future. These young, uninitiated minds will someday soon become our politicians, doctors, scientists, chefs, television producers, fashion designers, manufacturers, and, one would hope, the new proponents of liberty. But are they ready for it?

Time after time, particularly on college campuses, millennials have proven to be little more than entitled, spoiled, anti-intellectual brats who place far too much emphasis on feelings and nowhere near enough emphasis on critical thinking. To the millennial, words are cause for the creation of safe spaces, alternative ideas must be stifled, and anything they perceive to be a microaggression is enough to send them spiraling into a state of mental distress.

It’s time millennials understood these 7 harsh realities of life so we don’t end up with a generation of gutless adult babies running the show.

1. Your Feelings Are Largely Irrelevant

Seriously, nobody who has already graduated college cares about your feelings. That means that when you complain to your boss because your co-worker mis-gendered you, he’s probably not going to bend over backwards to bandage your wounds. Given feelings are entirely subjective in nature, it’s completely unreasonable to demand everyone tip-toe around you to prevent yours from being hurt. The reality is that people will offend you and hurt your feelings, and they won’t stop to mop up your tears because they shouldn’t have to. Learning to accept criticism, alternative viewpoints, and even outright insults will make you happier in the long run than routinely playing the victim card.

2. You Cannot Be Whatever You Want To Be

This is a comforting lie parents have started telling their children to boost their morale in school. Unfortunately, millennials are now convinced it’s true, especially as society has now decided to push this narrative as well. The reality is if you’re 17 years old and still can’t figure out basic division, you’re not going to be a rocket scientist. If you’re overweight and unattractive, you’re not going to be the quarterback’s prom date. If you lack fine motor skills, you’re not going to be a heart surgeon. It’s okay to accept that you cannot be whatever you want to be. In fact, once you accept this, you’ll be able to focus on the things you can be — the things you really are talented at.

3. Gender Studies Is A Waste Of Money

You heard me. While some millennials taking useless degrees will claim they’re beneficial for teaching or research positions, the reality is that they just put themselves several thousands dollars in debt to learn how to be a professional victim. While you’re struggling to make ends meet after graduation because nobody who pays more than minimum wage is interested in your qualifications and you’re drowning in student loan debt, be sure to check out the next harsh reality before you start complaining.

4. If You Live In America, You’re Already In The 1%

That’s right. Even though you work at McDonald’s for minimum wage because you got a useless, outrageously expensive college degree, you’re still far better off than the vast majority of the planet. Don’t believe me? Fly to Uganda and check out the living conditions there. Fly to China, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, Iran, Russia, and even European countries like Ukraine and Greece, and you’ll quickly discover just how well-off you really are. While it may be cool these days to dump on capitalism, it’s the only reason you aren’t already worse off.

5. You Don’t Have A Right To It Just Because You Exist

That includes healthcare, guaranteed income, and somewhere to live. Just because you’re here and breathing doesn’t mean society owes you anything. Like the billions of people who lived before you, working hard is a better guarantor of wealth and the ability to comfortably take care of yourself than begging society or the government to do it for you. Demanding healthcare be a right, for example, is equivalent to demanding government force the taxpayer to pay for it. While that may seem like a good idea in theory, it only leads to rationing of care when costs become unsustainable, which negatively impacts not just your health, but everyone else’s, too.

6. You DO Have The Right To Live As You Please  But Not To Demand People Accept It

By contrast, you do have the right to live however you please, so long as it’s within the confines of the law. If you want to cross-dress, smoke marijuana, drink lots of alcohol, have lots of sex, and, yes, even go to school for gender studies, then by all means, go for it. Government should not be allowed to legislate people’s behavior as long as it doesn’t infringe upon someone else’s rights, but that doesn’t mean society isn’t allowed to have an opinion. You don’t have the right to demand people keep their opinions about your lifestyle to themselves, especially if you’re open and public about it. I have as much of a right to comment on the way you live your life as you do to actually live it. Your feelings are not a protected right, but my speech is.

7. The Only Safe Space Is Your Home

No matter where you go in life, someone will be there to offend you. Maybe it’s a joke you overheard on vacation, a spat at the office, or a difference of opinion with someone in line at the grocery store. Inevitably, someone will offend you and your values. If you cannot handle that without losing control of your emotions and reverting back to your “safe space” away from the harmful words of others, then you’re best to just stay put at home. Remember, though: if people in the outside world scare you, people on the internet will downright terrify you. It’s probably best to just accept these harsh realities of life and go out into the world prepared to confront them wherever they may be waiting.

   The "Leaders" of Tomorrow !

#########################################################################################################

 Andrew and Barry Meet                                               1-12-2017

When Hurricane Sandy hit Long Island, many people were left homeless and destitute.  Disaster assistance and funding was very slow in coming and far from adequate.

Weeks after the storm, Obama made a "Spur-of-the-Moment" visit to the hardest hit areas to see the damage for himself. Cuomo accompanied him on this little trip, but it was too little, far too late for the devastated residents who were too frustrated to listen to any more excuses.

Obama did not make this personal appearance to please the victims of the storm, there was another reason for his visit that few people ever considered and are unaware of to this day. Even the Secret Service Agents and NY State Police were surprised when Obama's departure was delayed to allow for a "Behind Closed Doors" meeting with Cuomo. Fewer than a handful of people were privy to what went on in that meeting, and only by an unbelievable stroke of sheer luck, one of those people happened to be a close confidante of MINE!

At first, I was ecstatic to have the story and hopeful that it could be used to stop the Safe Act in it's tracks as well as expose the sleaziness of both Obama's and Cuomo's tactics. An added bonus was that an admission had been made that would finally prove that the Sandy Hook School Shooting was indeed, a poorly-executed Hoax. Talk about a SCOOP ! I could barely contain myself, considering the implications of exposing such knowledge. Then, reality hit.

Even though the Safe Act had not yet been brought before the Legislature and this information could keep that from happening, how would we PROVE that what was said, was said? There was no recording of the meeting, and no one who had first-hand information would sign a statement as to what they heard. Can't blame them really, this was no game. So that left ME, and I had received the information second-hand. It would be dismissed as Hearsay. It was one of the most frustrating moments of my life. I had a live grenade in my hands, the enemy in sight, and I could not pull the pin!

I have never really tried to keep this information to myself, what difference does it make?  I cannot use it to undo the damage that was caused in that secret meeting. No one can, and that stinks. All I can do is tell the story as it was told to me, advising the reader to bear in mind that it is and sadly always will be, hearsay. If nothing else, it might open some eyes and answer a lot of questions.

Andrew Cuomo wants to be President one day. Not yet, but one day. In 2012,he was looking at re-election to the Governorship as his priority. His Long Island constituents were desperate for disaster assistance and looking to HIM for relief. He HAD tried, not because he cared about the plight of the hurricane victims, but because he would need their grateful votes to gain re-election.

Unfortunately all-around, 2012 had been a brutal year for weather disasters all over America, and Cuomo was informed that the federal assistance well was dry. As the Long Island victims ramped-up the pressure, Cuomo became more concerned about his popularity.

Obama meanwhile, was intent on disarming as many American gun owners as possible, and ALL of them if he could manage it. Sandy Hook had been swallowed by millions of the gullible, but millions more saw right through the failed attempt to make that stage-show appear real.  Obama KNEW that he had to be quick in using the outrage of the fooled to impose strict gun laws, before the researchers delivered their proof of the hoax, or at least sowed more doubt of it's validity.

The immediate needs of both Obama and Cuomo created the perfect storm, one that all the disaster funding in the world could not clean up after. An impromptu, two-hour meeting between these two, evil men, solved both of their problems. Cuomo agreed to force-through what became known as the NY Safe Act in exchange for monetary assistance for Long Island. Cuomo would be a Hero and secure the votes of Long Island Democrats. Obama got NY State to set a precedent and impose draconian gun laws, knowing that almost everything NY did first, was adopted by other, Liberal states. Obama expected Safe Act-type laws to be passed in the majority of states by 2015. The joke was on HIM. That hasn't happened.

Less than two weeks after this meeting, the Safe Act passed, and a hefty check arrived at the Governor's Albany office for assistance to Long Island.  This is how politics work, especially in the Democrat Party. Conspiracies, Cronyism, Corruption, and CASH.

For Obama, the Safe Act Deal and the Sandy Hook False Flag were mere Checkers games compared to the trillion-dollar Monopoly battles he played with enemies of the American people behind closed doors for eight years. He is an evil puppet and Andrew Cuomo is cut from the same cloth.

Many of the people who read this post, voted for them BOTH. More than once! To those people, I pose this question; "What does that say about YOU?"

 Ladies' Night                                                             1-17-2017

In a world that is and always has been, predominately led by men, we too often dismiss the accomplishments of women.

Things have improved exponentially since the Women's Lib movement of the 60s, at least concerning public figures. Historically, strong women like Dolly Madison, Rosa Parks, Golda Meir, and Margaret Thatcher opened doors, and the eyes of the world to the value of women beyond the wife and mother roles.

Women in Hollywood have always been revered since the days of silent movies, and never so much as they are today. That by no means signifies strength or character in female celebrities, it simply indicates that the minds of their fans are shallow and often, empty. Hollywood is over-flowing with deviants, narcissists, and Communists, and it is truly, Sin City. Women like Beyonce, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Meryl Streep, Jane Fonda, Rosie O'Donnell, and a host of others are not only abrasive, they are literally disgusting and an embarrassment to decent women all across the country. Hollywood and the music industry have become poisonous in more ways than I care to think about.

Feminism is not a positive for women, either. Most Feminists are loud, aggressive, and repulsive bullies, and I have the same amount of respect for them that I have for celebrities, which is ZERO. We can do SO much better, ladies! Women are key to a strong, moral society, and women of good character can change the world in a heartbeat is they choose to do so! We are nurturers, teachers, nurses, artists, innovators, and fixers. These days, we are also Police Officers, Firefighters, Construction Workers, Mechanics, and Soldiers to name but a few. We can do ALL these things and still raise good kids and be great wives, do the cooking, cleaning, laundry,  yardwork,  and volunteer as "Room Mom" . We've come a long way, baby! LOL!

Multi-Tasking is the forte' of the female. As strong and hard-working as most of our male counterparts are, men have one-track minds. One-Job-At-A-Time. That isn't a choice they make, it's just how they ARE. Sadly, much of what we do as women goes unnoticed and under-appreciated. All those "Little Things"  we do repetitively, day after day, to keep order in our lives and homes, are rarely noted by those who benefit most from our efforts.

I happen to be blessed with a husband who is both loyal and respectful, but even he is a typical MAN when it comes to noticing my efforts. He doesn't drink or gamble, he's an excellent money-manager, he's honest, loves the Lord and his country, animals, and FARMING. He has an impeccable work-ethic and if he takes a day off, he must be near death. To those who know him only casually, he appears very gruff and rough-edged, and in some ways, he is. Vocabulary is not his strong suit as he is slightly dyslexic and had zero interest in school. Every minute spent in school was a minute he was not home working the farm with his dad.

Un-polished as Bob is, I'll take him any day over the prissy-boys with their three-piece suits, PHds, and wing-tip shoes. Yes, I have to pick up his dirty snack dishes and work clothes, vacuum hay, corn kernels, and dry manure on a regular basis, ignore it when he mangles my beloved English language, and overlook the fact that the puppy gets a better end-of-day greeting than I do.  It's all good, and I am a much luckier wife than a lot of you would believe.

What we women must come to understand and accept, is that men are very basic creatures. Most of their needs are physical with the exception of their need for approval and love, but we ALL have those needs, don't we? We need to stop expecting men to do what they are not capable of. They aren't going to notice your new haircut right away, or that you shampooed the rug, or you're upset that he forgot your anniversary, or that you just need a hug. If you want a guy to "GET IT", you have to hit him upside the head with a frying pan, and TELL him. They are just not wired the same way we are. They don't "sense" things like we do, and they don't understand why we're so emotional or why we have to over-analyze everything. Once we get this and stop expecting him to be intuitive, we'll be so much happier!

For the exhausted, multi-tasking, mighty women of the world, I've decided to write a "Ladie's Night" post from time to time. This is the introduction. We have a lot to discuss and a LOT to DO. I welcome stories, anecdotes, and suggestions from my female readers. For tonight, grab a glass of wine or a cup of your favorite tea, get the fuzzy slippers and robe on and snuggle-up with a good read. Always remember that the Nurturer needs nurturing too!

 FOR CCW PERMIT HOLDERS

Please read the following Facebook Posts re: the 2017 Safe Act requirement to renew your permits every five years. If your permit was issued in 2013 or earlier, you must renew this year.  If issued after 2013, you will need to renew five years from the date of issue.  The first renewal is free, but after that, there will be a fee to renew. The deadline for this year's renewals is January of 2018, so we have a full year.

At the bottom of this page is a copy of the Non-Compliance Alliance petition that you can copy and print to assist your fellow Permit Holders in resisting this requirement. This weekend, I will add a link to the You Tube video we taped at this weeks' Oathkeepers Meeting about this subject. You all have close friends who have permits, so it will be no hardship to fill at least one petition page and email it to me as an attachment, or I will meet you and collect it. This is an important effort in taking down the Safe Act piece by piece. Please engage.

Here is the Link to the Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-hrFUjt6Ig

CALL TO ACTION FOR NY GUN OWNERS !!!!!!!

Do you belong to a Gun Club, A Pro-2A Group, a large Church, a Veteran's Group , the NRA? Then get busy and start meeting with your peers to commit to non-compliance with the Safe Act Permit Renewals !! Print up a Pledge of Non-Compliance and have every member sign it, then have every one who signed go out and get two friends or family members to sign, and on and on! This can be accomplished in a WEEK if you are serious enough and willing to walk the walk. Make copies of the pledge forms and when you have at least 100 resisters on your list, send me a copy by email. I will compile all lists and hand-deliver them to our Assembly and Senate Representatives and the Media. Let's get to the work of refusing to comply with unconstitutional laws and mandates in NY. Time is of the essence!!

There is absolutely NO rush to renew your CCW Permits. In fact, there is no Constitutional requirement to EVER do so. In reality, the permit requirement itself is unconstitutional and a blatant violation of our 2nd Amendment Rights in America. I hear and see New Yorkers panicking about the renewal requirement, but remember, we have a FULL YEAR to comply, but WILL we Comply ? No, no we will not.

Madison's Militia has already begun the resistance process by contacting key players in this issue who can and will fight with and for us. BUT, we need YOU, every single gun owner in the State of NY is needed to step-up and join the "Non-Compliance Alliance".

Beginning TODAY, we will be asking Gun Clubs, Pro-2A Groups, Grassroots Freedom Groups, Church Groups, Volunteer Fire Departments, Sheriff's Departments, Oathkeepers, and Veterans to sign the "Non-Compliance Oath". So what is that?

Too many times, we have had friends promise to stand with us and have our backs if we go out on a limb to disobey. Sadly, we find ourselves standing alone and facing consequences individually. For this reason, people are not willing to disobey and face arrest because the numbers are not there. So, that must be remedied.

By signing the Oath, you cement your word that you will join your peers, your fellow Patriots, and your friends in unity to resist the action we all object to. You cannot SAY you will refuse to renew your permit, and then go and renew your permit. If you give your word to not comply, you will KEEP it, because you are a signee of the Oath.

Later tonight, I will provide you all with a copy of the Oath that you can print and use in your group or club. As soon as you reach 100 signatures, forward a copy to me to be added to the Oaths from all other participating groups and eventually presented IN-Person to the NY State Legislature and Media. Keep the filled pages coming, and if we ALL commit to this action, we can reach HUGE numbers by summer.

Things that matter are built one piece at a time, and the Safe Act can be taken down one piece at a time, IF we can manage to overlook our differences and group loyalties long enough to unite and get it done. It isn't a tough effort, but it IS a vital one.

What is this unnecessary requirement costing NY Taxpayers?? Let's join hands and finally get something done about this unconstitutional law and our Tyrannical, Bully of a Governor!

This is how we need to approach our battles, and the Refusal to Comply with Permit renewals IS a battle. It's a piece of the WAR on the NY State Government that is stripping us of our Constitutional Liberties. So we have to do it in pieces, so what, as long as we DO it. Let's get those Oath Petitions out to our group and club members and start adding-up the names!

Everybody get their Permit Renewal Letters from the NYSP today? Gun Granni got HERS. LOL!! Upon reading it carefully, several times, I have come to the only conclusion that anyone COULD come to. This is a Special Registry of where every handgun and handgun owner IS in the State of NY. Now why would they need that if they got all that info when we first obtained our permits? Well, a lot of us have re-located to other towns or cities in NY since we got our original permits, BUT, every time we purchase a new handgun, we are required to go through Holy Hell to add it to our permit, and that includes ALL our personal and PRIVATE information!!

Not only is it redundant and wasteful of the taxpayer's money, it is an out and out first step in creating an updated database on all NY handgun owners! Gee, I wonder why the State wants an updated database? The renewal process sounds simple and it probably is, but that doesn't make it Constitutional or necessary. Our first renewal will be cost-free, but ONLY the first one! After that, we will be charged to renew and have our rights violated.

The very requirement of a Pistol Permit is a violation of the 2nd Amendment, but RENEWING every five years ?! Umm, NO! Let's not waste even ONE MINUTE of the year we have to fight this! We have to push back, demand our 2A Rights, and REFUSE TO COMPLY! If we don't stop THIS step, we have no hope of stopping the ones that will follow it. PLEASE cut and paste the Oath Petition from the Madison's Militia Page and fill them up! Every name and every minute, COUNTS.

ATTENTION Non-Compliant New Yorkers! As you know, we are working hard on the Non-Compliance Alliance petitions. Tonight, we gave a presentation on the necessity of resistance to the Permit Renewal Requirement of the Safe Act at the Columbia/Greene Oathkeepers Meeting. This was video-taped and will be available sometime this weekend. One VERY IMPORTANT point I neglected to make in my posts about this effort: If we fail to reach a MINIMUM of 10,000 Permit-Holder signatures, we will scrap the effort and destroy the petitions. We want NO ONE to be targeted, and if we don't have the numbers we need, those who sign may be targeted by Law Enforcement.
SO, MY Oath to YOU , these petitions will be submitted to the legislature ONLY if we reach 10,000 or more signatures. Safety lies in numbers.
It is VITAL that we fill those petitions and dedicate ourselves to this fight, not because the renewal process itself is such a huge deal, but because of what it will lead to. We have all had more than enough of the violations of our rights and as one man told me tonight, this is creeping encroachment. We have to nip this in the bud. We have a right to say "NO MORE" and we have a DUTY to say, "NO MORE!" Please visit Madison's Militia and copy and paste the petition, then print 'em and fill 'em up! Let's put our foot down now, while we still can.

AS PROMISED: Here is the Non-Compliance Alliance Petition. Cut, Paste, and Print! Feel free to NOT include your address and phone number, but please include email addresses. If we start tomorrow, we could conceivably reach a few thousand by week's end, and by the end of February, we could see 100,000 or more, but we have to be dedicated to filling these pages with everyone who is willing to sign and carry through on the Oath. When you fill the pages, please email them to me at: PactJJ@gmail.com.

 Feminutsies                                                                      1-24-2017

First, a couple of updates.   1) The Tri-Board Meeting scheduled for tonight was canceled due to weather. I'll post the new date when it is re-scheduled.  2) Don't forget the Public Meeting at the High School tomorrow night to discuss School Tax exemptions for veterans.  3) The Non-Compliance Alliance petition for the resistance of CCW Permit Renewals, is now ONLINE.  Go to this link to sign!            https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/ny-safe-act-non-compliance-alliance

Now, let's talk about the Womens' March on Washington that took place this week.  The media has given far more attention and air time to this event than it deserves.

In 2013, millions of Americans traveled to D.C to demonstrate in support of of the Right to Life of unborn children. There was NO media coverage. If one wanted to see the photos of the massive turnout, they had to rely on Facebook.  When the Pro-Lifers left D.C that day, they left the grounds as clean as they found it, much like the NY Safe Act Rally protesters did in 2013. We literally policed the Capitol grounds and left them CLEANER than we found them! There was also NO violence, NO arrests, and NO property damage.

Have you seen the photos of the desecration left behind by the Womens' Marchers? Don't worry, I posted one for you below. What a despicable MESS! Protest signs and all types of garbage left behind on the ground, just like the Earth Day Parade in NY City last year! These are the Environmental Extremists and Nature Nazis!!! The trash was knee-deep in D.C this week, human and otherwise. Some of the protest signs bore messages so profane and deviant, that a Porno-King would have blushed just reading them! Absolutely SICK.

These "women" are not heroes, they are not leaders or trend-setters, they are PIGS, in every sense of that word. They are an embarrassment to decent women and a dangerous example to our little girls.  As our taxpayer dollars are spent to clean up their filth, the media continues to suck-up to these liberal Bimbos with excessive attention.

When this March was being organized, it was made very clear via Social Media, that NO Conservative women would be invited or welcomed, and those who came uninvited, would face physical ejection. Some women were not at all intimidated by these warnings and showed up anyway, some in Trump hats, others waving the American flag. They were spit on, screamed at, and physically assaulted.  One Conservative with a few extra bucks and a great sense of humor, hired a pilot to sky-write Trump's name above the protesters. LOL!!!  Photos taken at that moment show the "Ladies" holding up their middle fingers. Yup, a real classy bunch of slobs.

This protest was advertised as an action for Womens' Rights. Seems to ME that American women have all the rights of every other American, and in some cases, even MORE, like minorities and Special Interest groups do. Those with the least rights in America, are White males.  Especially Conservative, White males. So what was this march REALLY all about? That's easy.

It was about a couple of things.
                                1) The insatiable need to continue whining and crying about Hillary's loss and stamp their feet in tantrum for not having gotten everything they wanted. They are SO accustomed to society giving-in to their selfish, immature whims and needs that they are incapable of appropriately dealing with a loss or being told NO. They cannot deal with the FACT that the liberal fiesta is OVER. Now they will actually have to support themselves, pay for their addictions and desires, and Oh No, have to THINK for themselves! Those poor, oppressed and abused butterflies!

                                2) The MAIN reason for this protest was simply another spoiled-brat demand for entitlements that no one is entitled TO.  These helpless idiots want the government, (i.e the Taxpayers), to foot the bill for their abortions, on Demand. The few who actually get it that abortion is not a form of birth control, want their pill and condoms paid for as well. Ummm, NO!

Abortion is NOT a form of birth control, it is a savage form of murder. (see: Abortionprocedures.com)  It is NOT the woman's body and therefore her "Right to Choose", it is the child's body and he or she is given NO choice. Birth control is already free for low-income women and affordable for the others. Buy your OWN ! Next thing you know, they will be expecting the government to pay for their face-lifts, hair-color,tattoos, and cocaine. The government has zero obligation to pay for anyone's personal wants or needs. They don't pay for my cigarettes and ammunition, nor SHOULD they! So why should government pay for a woman's IUD?

If a woman does not want a child and prefers not to use birth control, abstinence is a great and effective option.

In the case of late-term abortion, not only are they barbaric, they are also unnecessary. If you have carried the child that long, the pregnancy is no longer a secret and nearly complete, isn't giving the child up for adoption the humane and mature thing to do? There are literally hundreds of thousands of decent, childless couples waiting and praying for a child of their own. Why are Common Sense and Compassion so impossible for these liberal women to understand and practice?  WHY do these people have to talk, act, and think like wild baboons that have never seen civilization?  Are we not supposed to be civilized, humane, and decent people in America? We USED to be!

Once upon a time, America was a lighthouse, a Beacon of Hope to the rest of the world. Liberalism has morphed this great country into a Den of Iniquity. It has robbed us of our pride and patriotism, our loyalty and freedoms, our courage, integrity, and history. We now value plants, swamps, and bugs more than our children, elders, and veterans. We put the "Rights" of enemy invaders before the safety of our own people. We now have indoctrination instead of education.

The Left despises Donald Trump because he isn't kissing their diaper-clad behinds and hopefully, he never will.  So far, he appears to see through the Climate Hoax, the False Flags, and the Make-Believe Oppression of minorities and Special Interest, and he is unafraid to say so. One thing he definitely is NOT, is Politically-Correct, and I LIKE that!

The voices of the Left have gotten insufferably loud, their anger so unchained, because they are AFRAID, and they SHOULD be! THEIR way doesn't work and it never has. Leftist agendas serve no one but the wealthy elite who USE them to push said agendas. The government teat is also about to dry-up, and that terrifies the welfare cheats. We tried it "Their Way" for way too long, and now we are paying the price and seeing the disastrous results. So now it's OUR turn.

To all the crybabies, loonies, Feminists, and rioters, I say this; "We had to endure 8 long years of the most abominable, incompetent, treasonous president in history, and we not only did not resort to whining or violence, we actually survived. YOU will survive Trump. So sit down, shut-up, grow up, and go do something that actually matters. "

To the "women" who took part in or in any way supported the Womens' March, you are in a word, disgusting. Every single one of you should be sent to the Middle East to live as Muslim women, since you hate America so much. Get a taste of THAT and I bet you'll have a whole new appreciation for the freedoms, rights, and protections you enjoy as American women.

(The first photo is of the 2013 Pro-Life Demonstration in D.C that was ignored by Media.) Photos 2,3,4,5,6 and 7 are of this week's march.

 In Memory                                                                    1-29-2017

Many times, I have mentioned here that I have awesome neighbors.  Last night, I lost one.

Dave Roden passed peacefully into eternal rest with his devoted wife Sheryl, at his side, as she always was.  After a year of injuries and illnesses that ended his life-long routine of constant creativity, this good man is finally at peace.

He was a very quiet man, never much for conversation or the social life, and in the 17 years that I have lived right next door to him, I don't think I heard him speak more than a handful of words. Dave was always too busy "Thinking" and "Doing" to waste time on idle chatter. He was a man that never sat still for very long. He was an inventor and an innovator, and when he wasn't in the middle of a project, he was mentally designing one.  His work was impeccable and there was no job too intimidating or difficult.

Dave could fix, build, and create anything he imagined, from playground equipment for the grandchildren to the very house he lived in. He knew carpentry, electrical work, plumbing and heating, welding, landscaping, and a myriad of other things that most of us would never dare to attempt. He and Sheryl celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this month, and they were a match like we seldom see.

We will miss Dave's presence in the neighborhood, and we pray for comfort for the Roden Family.
Wake Hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m on Friday at the Immaculate Conception Hall, followed by Mass. Following the services and interment, there will be a reception at the New Lebanon Firehouse.  This will be sponsored by the LVPA in honor of Dave's past service as Fire Chief.

 Civil Disobedience                                                     1-31-2017

UPDATE:  The arrangements for Dave Roden's final goodbye have been changed. Due to difficulties at the church and the slippery ground at the cemetery, viewing hours will now be at the Hall and Higgins Funeral Home in Stephentown from 1-3 p.m on Friday, immediately followed by a memorial service at the same site. After the service, folks will be heading to the New Lebanon Firehouse for a reception.

                 #########################################

A couple of things; Congratulations to our new Supreme Court Justice, Neil Gorsuch. Will he be Antonin Scalia? Nope, no one can follow a class act like Scalia. Will he be a good, Conservative Judge? Your guess is as good as mine. We can only hope. Of course, the Democrats are already promising to block the appointment with all their whiny might, in return for the Republicans blocking Obama's appointment earlier this year.

It has been 100 years since a Supreme Court seat became empty so close to the end of a president's term, as in Scalia's case. It was not proper for an out-going president to make that appointment at that stage in his presidency, and everyone knows it. I am not surprised at the poor sportsmanship of the Democrats and Hard-Left Liberals at all. They have proven their immaturity, dependency, stupidity, and been sore losers since Trump's win became apparent. Trump will ignore them anyway, and he will eventually ignore the Right as well.

Much like the Immigration Ban issue which has become a World-Wide argument, the Liberals are putting their wimpy emotions before the necessity of ensuring the safety of our own people.  In London, people are protesting Trump in the streets! WHY? Maybe because they know that THEIR country has been destroyed by Islam and they wish they had imposed a ban a long time ago, too. In any case, it's none of their damn business! Sweden and Norway are dealing with violent crime like they have never seen before, at the hands of Refugees and Illegal Middle-Easterners. Personally, I think Trump dropped the ball. Not only did he originally come dangerously close to violating the Constitution by banning a "Religion", but he should have taken this ban MUCH farther than he has.

A Common Sense, Non-Prejudicial option would have been to ban ALL immigration from everywhere in the world , indefinitely, until we put a proper vetting process in place and totally re-vamp our immigration system , requirements, and laws, and hire thousands more Border Patrol guards.  THEN, we need to place a cap on how many immigrants the U.S will accept per year, no matter WHERE they come from! Amen? In any case, lots of Lefties are calling-in to Conservative Talk Shows to scream that Trump's ban is "Unconstitutional".  Levin for instance, is a Constitutional Attorney, and he is NOT a patient man. He called for people to contact HIM on-air and tell him HOW it is unconstitutional! It is most certainly, 100% Constitutional and a REQUIREMENT for the President and Federal Government to ensure the safety of the People. Period ! People are so damn DUMB.

One thing I am absolutely LOVING, is No More CZARS in the White House!

                 ######################################

The Boy Scouts of America have decided to allow Transgender applicants to join the organization. Hmm. You know what's coming. How in the HELL does a CHILD know if he or she is a Transgender or not, unless an adult TELLS them they are ?!?! The age of reasoning is 9, and there are millions of scouts younger than that, so who decided they were Trannies? They haven't even reached PUBERTY!

I grew up preferring to play with Tonka Trucks over dolls. I learned to fix cars and build things with my dad, I had my own gun at age 8, and I sailed, fished, hiked, and did all the things the boys did. I am not Gay, Trans-Sexual, or any of the other labels that go with sexual confusion. I am 100% heterosexual, and I STILL like the boy jobs and hobbies better than the girly ones. No one ever suggested I was anything OTHER than Hetero because I liked boy things better. No one suggested that I needed a sex change so I could BE a boy! I was a CHILD, and until we reach adulthood, NO decision on our sexuality should be made. The world has gone insane.

               ######################################

Now, let's get down to the Civil Disobedience, shall we? In MY world, there are simple, Common Sense, and righteous laws that deserve my respect and compliance. They are:
   1) The Ten Commandments of God.
   2) The Bill of Rights.
   3) Basic law that protects the life, safety, liberty, and property of others.

I believe that if there is no victim, there is no crime, the root of Common Law. Nor should it be a crime if YOU are the only victim of your crime, such as smoking or taking other risks. It is ridiculous to consider the offense of someone's "Feelings" as victimization. Being nice is a good thing, but NOT being nice is not a crime and should not be legally punished. That's oppression and it is a violation of the 1st Amendment.  Therefore, Hate Speech laws are invalid and unenforceable.

What I find extremely hypocritical, is the manner in which valid laws are applied unevenly, based on a person's race, religion, political beliefs, or position in society. We see that inequality of justice in America every, single day. A teenager who has no criminal record, can be caught with an ounce of weed and do jail time. Yet a wealthy politician or celebrity who owes millions of dollars in back-taxes gets a free pass, like Al Sharpton. A man of good conscience and loyalty to his country exposes government corruption and conspiracy, and he is charged with Treason, imprisoned, or forced to go into hiding in a foreign country.

Meanwhile, sleazebags like Hillary Clinton, Obama, and all their many dirty cronies, can commit numerous felonies and acts of Treason, and face zero consequences. I could talk for weeks about so-called "Leaders" who have committed High Crimes and Misdemeanors and gotten free passes, but why bother? So few people give a damn today and even fewer care to DO anything about it.

Liberals and minorities protest violently, destroy property, and endanger lives, and the media and government justify it as their 1st Amendment "Right". Conservative Ranchers protest peacefully and respectfully and are labeled as "Domestic Terrorists", locked away with no bail, and even shot on a country road. Is this Equal Justice? Madonna publicly threatens to bomb the White House and she's walking around free. Obama made targets of America's Police Officers with the help of Al Sharpton, and they were directly and undeniably responsible for the deaths of numerous cops. NO accountability. If YOU type the word "BOMB" on your social media page or say, "Death to Islam", you could be arrested.

White-on-Black and Cop-On-Black confrontations and crimes are sensationalized across the country, but the opposite scenarios that are far more prolific, are hidden and ignored by the Left-Owned Media.  Lady Justice wears a blindfold and holds scales for a REASON. It is the timeless symbol of equal justice for ALL Americans without consideration of their appearance, life-choices, or social position.

Perhaps we should blindfold all Judges and Juries. Better yet, how about we use cardboard standees of people in court instead of the actual defendants?  Keep the accused out of the sight of the Judge, Jury, and Media until after the decision is reached. Let them decide the verdict and punishment based on the EVIDENCE alone. Wouldn't THAT be refreshing ?!

The old adage that "Laws are meant to be broken" is true more often than not. We are a "Free" nation of excessive, burdensome, and unjust laws. If you really ponder on it, you will come to realize that even the most law-abiding among us violate SOME law each and every day, without even realizing it. Yes, we are THAT over-regulated and enslaved by nonsensical, purposeless, and redundant laws and mandates. We are truly at the mercy of the whims of Legislators and tyrannical leaders.

Nowhere in America are the people more restricted and controlled than they are in the State of N.Y. Even California is less oppressive, and that's saying something! We all know that Blue States are notoriously the least free and Constitutional as a result of Liberal/Democrat "Leadership" and ideology. It speaks volumes to those who care to listen.

So when IS it acceptable to purposely disobey unjust laws? ALWAYS!!  It isn't merely a necessity, it is the DUTY of every Patriotic, Constitutional, Christian, and Moral American to REFUSE to comply!  The Bible says so, the Founders said so, and the steady encroachment upon our freedoms in the past 8 years, says so! It is now or never.

The People of America are NOT to fear their government, their government is to fear the PEOPLE.  That was the intent of our Founders and it is our responsibility to ensure that it is so. We have slept for too long, folks. I can suggest, inform, and encourage others to be more like the Revolutionaries of the 1770s and to exercise their precious, hard-won liberties, but I cannot "Force" anyone to do ANYTHING, nor SHOULD I presume to.

Conservatives do not expect or demand that every American think, act, or believe exactly as they do. We do not ask courts to twist the laws to fit our needs, but just to enforce it as written. We don't throw violent tantrums, scream obscenities, march in public with bare breasts and vagina hats, or sue people that hurt our feelings or dare to obey God's Law over Same-Sex Marriage Laws, or support the "Right" to an Abortion-on-Demand.
ALL of those behaviors are attributable to Liberals and Liberals ALONE, and they call US  a "Basket of Deplorables" ?

I believe in the freedom of choice for all people, whether I agree with their choices or not is immaterial. So no, I will never try to Force anyone to do what I would do or what I think they should do. I offer the info, encourage moral action, and just hope that even ONE person out of every ten, may be awakened and motivated. That's all I CAN do, or should do.

Right now, I am urging Conservative New Yorkers to Revolt against the Safe Act requirement to renew CCW Permits. It is a small effort that can make a small difference today, and a HUGE difference when the NEXT requirement comes along. The President of NYSRPA, (New York Rifle and Pistol Assoc.), is a cherished friend of mine and we have accomplished many big things together. We spoke last week about my Non-Compliance Alliance effort and he declined to take part, stating that his position would not allow him to advocate for people to violate the "LAW". That's okay, it's all good, no hard feelings, BUT, I CAN  advocate for people to violate this unjust law! I have no position to protect and even if I did, it would not stop me. Right is right, and the 1st and 2nd Amendments support this action against this pretend law.

When I was growing up, most American men would have hitched-up their drawers and formed a wall of resistance against illegal laws like the Safe Act. They would have revolted against seatbelt and helmet laws, stood up for Christian business owners, drank whatever size soda they pleased and lit up their cigarettes and cigars in the bars or diners after dinner. Where have these men gone? In NY, Pro-Gun males are all over Social Media in pictures of themselves posing with their AR15s and their 50 Calibers. They write comments such as; "Nobody is taking MY gun!", or "Three-Percenter, God and Guns!".  Blah, blah, blah.  So much false bravado.

Yet ask these same camouflage-clad men in their tactical boots to sign a petition, and they literally cower in fear! They whine that the State will take their guns away. LOL!!  They have more excuses than the NAACP and absolutely ZERO cajones. Yes, some of these sissies live right here in New Lebanon, and they are embarrassing. You all know that I am no Feminist and I am not a fan of Feminism. I AM however, a strong woman and a fan of strong women, and I have seen women win battles that the men would never dare take on. It is beginning to look like the women will be the ones to stall and disassemble the Safe Act.

No matter who you are or what you believe, never, EVER sit idly by while corrupt politicians enslave you with unjust, unconstitutional, excessive, and redundant laws or mandates. Mandates are not even laws at all! You have a Protected RIGHT and an American DUTY to Disobey such regulations, but it must be done in numbers, by people of Courage, and these days, Courage is pretty darn hard to find.

 FEBRUARY 2017  ARCHIVES

 Farewells and Funky Thoughts                                 2-3-2017

The LVPA did a beautiful job today in honoring past Chief, Dave Roden. Their service was so touching, that I found myself reaching for the tissue box more than once. I was not the only one.

I had intended to go to the reception at the firehouse after the service, but I've been fighting an ear infection all week and feel crummy. It was so bad, that the swelling spread down my neck and into my temple, and I look a little like a prize fighter. Big time antibiotics. Tonight is the first night I've shown some improvement, and it's nice, believe me.

Having the opportunity to see the photo collections at the funeral home was a blessing. I have lived next to Dave and Sheryl for 17 years, and never knew how diverse a man Dave was. Early pics of the two of them together were adorable, they were both beautiful to look at! Dave with all that thick, dark hair and deep dimples, and Sheryl with her adorable face and ever-present smile.  So many things I never knew, and wish I had. It's a sad lesson. So many of the people we know and love are aging and leaving us behind, and how well do or did we really know them?

Now that I am somewhat responsible for Services to the Senior Citizens in New Lebanon, I will be paying more attention to who they all are, and what they once were. I want to start a Memory Book, record their most important and notable memories of America and New Lebanon. What amazing events did they witness, what changes have they seen and do they find these changes to be positive or negative? What would they do differently if they could , and what do they wish to see happen to their town in the future and why? Do they have photos they wish to share, or lessons they wish the younger folks would learn from them ? So many possibilities and too many treasures to let get away.

If you or one of your loved ones would like to contribute to the memory Book, please let me know!  Also, there are smoke and CO2 Detectors available at NO cost to our Seniors and those who want one and cannot afford to buy one. The LVPA has these stocked and ready to distribute, so contact me with your request for yourself or someone else and I will see to it that you receive one. (PactJJ@gmail.com). I would also love to hear from members of the community about any ideas or suggestions you might have that benefits our Seniors or about any senior you are aware of that has needs and cannot, or may be shy about, coming forward.  I promise discretion.

There will be a New Lebanon Seniors Facebook Page coming in March so that Seniors with computers can interact and share information and desires, even if it is just recipes and fishing tips. I would like to keep this blog and the Seniors Services separate, and hope the FB page can fill the need for an online forum. Also, if there are any Seniors who would like help learning to use their Smart Phones or computers more easily, let's arrange for some willing youngsters to share their skills in return for seniors sharing theirs. There are a lot of gifted older folks in New Lebanon with skills that our kids can only dream about learning. So, why not?

In any case, I pray for comfort for the Roden family, and hope that Sheryl's friends will drop in and visit more often once things quiet down a bit. That's the toughest time for those left behind, and the time that they need their friends and neighbors the most.

Phyllis Hulbert was at the wake today and she looks terrific. She is walking with a walker and is as wonderfully miserable as ever, which means she is definitely MUCH better!  LOL!!  ( I told her so today, so I am not picking on her behind her back.) She is too tough and stubborn NOT to recover, and she should be home full-time in a week or two. Even though she is moving a little slower these days, it's still going to be hard for me to fill her shoes, but I will do my best.

Speaking of doing my best, I am facing a tough decision. For years, I have been an activist, an Organizer and Motivator, but I am beginning to wonder if I am beating my head against a wall when it comes to state and federal-level efforts. People are more apathetic today than I can ever recall them being at any time in my life. Oh sure, the Liberals are crying and acting the fools on the streets and college campuses, being sore losers in the Congress and Senate, not to mention in the NY State Governor's Office.  The Feminists are getting naked and acting like cheap hookers, you name it. The new America. The loonies however, are the only ones being vocal and objecting to the things THEY don't approve of. Where is everyone else?

My dream is to leave this state and go to a Western state where the population is lower, kinder, gentler, and much more Constitutional. This is not a dream I see coming true, since I could never afford to make the move and find another home. Only a miracle could make this move possible. So , being a realist, I am trying to decide what it is I SHOULD do. As long as I live in New Lebanon, I will continue to be a thorn in some people's sides, but do I want to continue the state and federal work? Or, do I want to pare down the duties, give up on the people who talk the talk but won't walk the walk, and give myself the gift of time spent doing what I love, with the people I love?

I am writing a book, ( very slowly due to other obligations) , and I love to paint, garden, work in my wood-shop,whittle, read, renovate, and a host of other, little things. In recent years, these things have taken a back seat or been given up on altogether. Though I am, and always will be, passionate about politics and fighting for what I believe is right and just, it may be time to take off a few hats. The question is, CAN I ? Can I make myself give up on some of these passions and replace them with quieter, more healing ones?  You see my dilemma. I'm praying on it. Wish me luck.

 NO WAY !!!!!!!!!                                                             2-8-2017

WELL, it's happening, just as I warned you it would! Dunkin Donuts has applied to build a stand-alone, Drive-Thru store on the lot just east of Stewarts on Rt. 20 !! Apparently, KB Chittenden finally got his finances in order and is able to sell the plot.

Makes me wonder if Dunkin Donuts offered him more than Stewarts did, because Stewarts has been waiting for that piece of land to become available for years so they could expand.  Here is Question #1: To WHOM do the people of New Lebanon owe their allegiance ?  Was Dunkin Donuts here to fill the gap when we lost our grocery store? Were they here to stock basic needs that most Stewarts don't carry, just to help this community? No, but Stewarts DID that for us, and they deserve to have first-shot at that location, not a national chain store like Dunkin Donuts that will absolutely KILL two, locally-owned, small businesses. Perhaps more than two.

This idea was the dream of Mike Benson and Max Gitter for several years, as I told you several times in the past. However, we have a Comprehensive Plan in New Lebanon to protect the aesthetics and rural flavor of our town, and that does NOT include national chain stores with Drive-Thru Windows!  NO-NO-NO !!!!!  I know that we need businesses, but NOT Dunkin Donuts! There is a brand-new Dunkin at the Canaan Truck Stop, a 10-minute drive for folks in New Lebanon. Do we REALLY want that ugliness on our main mile?!?!?!~  Can we afford to add the extra traffic confusion to an already dangerous location?

Let me now address the Liberal Transplants that are so concerned about turning our town into a "Living Museum of Rural Life", and restoring Shaker Historical sites, the Swamp that was never a swamp, and the unique history of this town that is preparing to celebrate it's 200th Anniversary;  Do YOU people want this eyesore in the center of our town? Well, if you do not get your butts to the next Planning Board Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7:30, you might have little to say about it. If we all fail to let the Town Board know what we feel about this betrayal of Stewarts and potential blight on our main mile, we WILL have this store in our town.

What will Blueberry Hill and Bucky's Bagels have to say about it?!?!? We cannot afford to allow this to happen, and we can NOT afford to allow the Secret EDC to continue to operate in the dark ! You have slept long enough New Lebanon, now is the time to stand up and SPEAK up, or forever SHUT up! You can COUNT on ME being 100% involved and vocal in fighting this, what will YOU do?

Meetings                                                                          2-12-2017

Busy week coming up,folks! I had 6 meetings scheduled for this week, but thanks to the weather, it is now down to three, possibly four. YAY!

Tuesday night, the Town Board meets with an early start at 6:30 for special business. The regular meeting begins at 7 as usual with the first thing on the agenda being the "Climate Smart Communities" presentation that we will be listening to for the THIRD time! GAG!!  If you are at all concerned about restrictions on how you use your own property, you may want to attend or at the very least, look up the info on this program and the Red Flag words contained within it !  It's a Freedom Stealer, believe me.

On Wednesday night, Dunkin Donuts representatives will be at the Planning Board meeting at 7:30 to submit their Sketch Plan for the proposed, Drive-Thru Store .  I have taken a little time to talk to some DD workers and Stewarts Corporate Office. Apparently, Dunkin Donuts is reporting to their employees that they WILL be opening in New Lebanon in May of this year.  Stewarts is aware of this and is being very discreet about THEIR plans, except to say that THEY are definitely expanding the New Lebanon Store! LOL!  This should be VERY interesting to witness. The Battle of the Building Lot ?

I strongly recommend that anyone who is interested in this mess, attend the meeting on Wednesday and have your say. Hopefully, this is going to require a public hearing before anything is approved by the P.B. Keep in mind the two, local businesses that Dunkin Donuts will likely destroy and the aesthetic effect it will have on the center of our town. Anyone who really NEEDS a Dunkin Donut, can get into their car anytime, day or night, and drive 10 minutes to the new, Canaan Truck Stop. Honestly, Stewarts Donuts are better anyway.

There will be no Constitution Study on the 20th due to the holiday, but we will meet on March 6th at 7 at the Library as always.

The snow is awesome, and my pup thinks it was created just for HER.  She is absolutely THRILLED with it. If she could talk, I think she would tell me how glad she is that Global Warming is a Hoax. LOLOL!!!

Paris climate agreement
exit may be imminent

The U.S. may be about to break free from the UN's awful Paris climate agreement.

Myron Ebell, a long-time friend of CFACT, headed up President Trump's transition team for EPA.  Yesterday, he told reporters in London the President will "withdraw from the Paris Agreement."

We posted details on CFACT.org.

Reuters reports that "any country wanting to pull out of the Paris agreement after ratifying it has to wait four years."

"A source on Trump's transition team said last year that there were speedier alternatives, such as sending a letter withdrawing from the 1992 international framework accord that is the parent treaty of the agreement; voiding U.S. involvement in both in a year's time; or issuing a presidential order simply deleting the U.S. signature from the Paris accord."

"Ebell said the ‘cleanest way’ would be to withdraw from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change itself."

A CFACT delegation actively participated in the UN's climate summit in Paris.  The agreement that came out of that conference was a mistake for the U.S. and the world.

Even if one accepts climate computer models as accurate (though they never have been), the agreement will have little or no meaningful impact on future global temperature.  The costs, however, are tremendous.  The UN agreement fails any rational cost-benefit analysis.

The UN agreement would force the U.S. to throttle down its energy sector at the same time nations such as China and India are building coal plants as fast as their economies allow.

The agreement also calls for the U.S. and its allies to transfer billions to the UN's Green Climate Fund.

The Paris agreement is riddled with flaws.  We have detailed coverage at CFACT.org.  The agreement has always been "all pain, no gain," as CFACT has explained from the start.

Americans should cheer any steps that would free our nation from this ill-begotten UN climate regime.

                  The "sustainability" ploy

Environmental radicals are circling the wagons to defend “global warming” as a rationale to grant them economic and political power, but they're having a tough time.

Their scientific case is collapsing.

What's a Green to do?

Pivot to an eco-campaign that defies any objective measure of objectivity whatsoever: "Sustainability."

The "sustainability" ploy has been working its way through the UN since the first Rio "Earth Summit" in 1992 (we know, CFACT was there), was written into the UN's "Agenda 21" document, and is today quietly but steadily working its way through state and local government halls near you.

CFACT senior policy analyst Paul Driessen posted substantial details at CFACT.org.

Here are a few samples of what the Greens are saying about their utopian eco-cause of “sustainability”:

  • Building an environmentally sustainable future requires restricting the global economy, dramatically changing human reproductive behavior, and altering values and lifestyles,” said Worldwatch Institute founder Lester Brown. “Doing this quickly requires nothing short of a revolution.”

  • Current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class – involving high meat intake, the use of fossil fuels, electrical appliances, home and workplace air conditioning, and suburban housing – are not sustainable,” Canadian arch-environmentalist Maurice Strong declared.

  • Minor shifts in policy, moderate improvements in laws and regulations, rhetoric offered in lieu of genuine change,” former Vice President Al Gore asserted – “these are all forms of appeasement, designed to satisfy the public’s desire to believe that sacrifice, struggle and a wrenching transformation of society will not be necessary.”

  • Environmental activist Daniel Sitarz agreed, saying: “Agenda 21 proposes an array of actions intended to be implemented by every person on Earth. Effective execution of Agenda 21 will require a profound reorientation of all humans, unlike anything the world has ever experienced.”

It's the same old far-Left crowd offering the same old command-and-control solutions: Time to end that messy freedom and prosperity of yours; wiser heads than yours will restructure society for the better.

They never learn.

Central planning is inefficient and destructive.

Whether your goal is to promote human well being, environmental protection, a bright future, or all of the above – markets are efficient and foster prosperity.  Bureaucracy does not.

We must remain alert to the efforts of those in the radical environmental movement to cloak their so-called “sustainability” cause in the color eco-green – instead of what it should be, socialist-red.

Scientists Criticize 'Hottest Year on Record' Claim as Hype

By James Varney, RealClearInvestigations
January 29, 2017

Claims that 2016 was “the hottest year on record” are drawing sharp criticism from scientists who say it reflects how global warming has become more social crusade than evidence-based science.

The Obama administration relentlessly politicized science and it aggressively pushed a campaign about that politicized science,” said Steven E. Koonin, who served as under secretary for science in Obama’s Department of Energy from 2009 to 2011.

Koonin, a theoretical physicist at New York University who once worked for energy giant BP, also blamed a “happily complicit” media for trumpeting the now-departed Obama administration’s dubious claim.

The controversy began in mid-January when the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a report declaring that “the globally averaged temperature over land and ocean surfaces for 2016 was the highest among all years since record-keeping began in 1880.”

NOAA fixed the 2016 increase at 0.04 degrees Celsius. The British Met Office reported an even lower rise, of 0.01C. Both increases are well within the margin of error for such calculations, approximately 0.1 degrees, and therefore are dismissed by many scientists as meaningless.

The reports, however, set the global warming bell towers ringing. Gavin Schmidt, head of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, was quoted at Climate Central referring to the past temperature record and saying “2016 has really blown that out of the water.”

Following the lead of the Schmidt and government press releases, USA Today wrote that “the planet sizzled to its third straight record warm year in 2016.” The New York Times’ front-page headline said, “Earth Sets Temperature Record for Third Straight Year.” The article declared that the latest readings were “trouncing” earlier numbers and the planet had thus “blown past” the previous records.

Such characterizations are absurd, according to Richard Lindzen, a meteorology professor at MIT and one of the world’s foremost skeptics that global warming represents an existential threat.

It’s typical misleading nonsense,” Lindzen said in an e-mail. “We’re talking about less than a tenth of degree with an uncertainty of about a quarter of a degree. Moreover, such small fluctuations – even if real – don’t change the fact that the trend for the past 20 years has been much less than models have predicted.”

Koonin suggested the White House and the media could consider an alternative presentation of what’s happening.

I think simply by having the government press releases on the changing climate be fulsomely scientific – that is, putting in all the relevant facts – we would see more genuine science in the media discussions,” he said.

As an example, he offered a headline that read, “Global Temperatures Up 0.0X for 2016; Within Margin of Error for Last N Years.” Rather than exclaim “Sea Levels Highest on Record,” Koonin said, the press releases could encourage, and perhaps media outlets accept, one that reads, “Sea Level Rose 0.1 Inches Last Year, Consistent With Century-Long Trend.”

But would that stir public opinion or sell papers?

It’s not my job to sell papers,” Koonin said. “The White House positions, the press releases, the published stories – all of that is not exactly inaccurate but it is promoting something considerably less alarming or certain than the layperson might conclude from reading it all.”

The issue is not one of fake news or manipulated data but of emphasis.

The Times said it did not rely solely on data sets that showed a 0.01C increase. The paper’s coverage incorporated other studies that showed a greater increase in average temperatures, particularly those that take Arctic changes into account, said Justin Gillis, who covers global warming for The Times. Gillis provided a bar graph to RealClearInvestigations that showed three other conclusions reflecting higher temperature jumps than those recorded by NOAA and the British meteorology office in conjunction with East Anglia University, one of the world’s centers of global warming research.

Judith Curry, a former Georgia Tech scientist who left her academic post this month largely because of the charged politics surrounding global warming, said the other temperature data sets are less precise.

She said there are “some good reasons” why one of the British 0.01C sources elects not to extend its coverage to the Arctic Ocean. “There is little to no data, and the extrapolation methods are dubious,” Curry wrote in an e-mail.

Neither USA Today nor Schmidt replied to requests for comment.

In addition to Curry, Koonin and Lindzen, five other experts told RealClearInvestigations the layman’s understanding of the issue would improve if the Trump administration adopted a more neutral stance toward global warming stories. That would be certain to be interpreted as one of “denial” about global warming, and already several figures in the emerging Trump team have been denounced by The Times and others as climate deniers.

This rhetoric again obscures the real issue, according to the skeptics, who insist the important question for government and taxpayers isn’t global warming’s reality but rather its extent and, consequently, the best policies that can be crafted to address it. Some experts pointed with approval to the incoming administration stripping global-warming material from the White House website literally moments after power changed hands. One suggested the Office of Science and Technology Policy could be transformed and its mission redirected.

It will be a huge cross-agency effort to stem this flood, perhaps led by OSTP,” said David Wojick, a government contractor who has tracked federal spending on global warming research for years. “Alarmist federal press releases, websites and reports are very big beer indeed.”

A scientist and former Obama energy official has joined the chorus of scientists fed up with the media's "hottest year" hype.

'The Obama administration relentlessly politicized science and it aggressively pushed a campaign about that politicized science,” said Steven E. Koonin, who served as Under Secretary for Science in Obama’s Department of Energy from 2009 to 2011."

Marc Morano featured an article from "Real Clear Investigations" at CFACT's Climate Depot.

"NOAA fixed the 2016 increase at 0.04 degrees Celsius. The British Met Office reported an even lower rise, of 0.01C. Both increases are well within the margin of error for such calculations, approximately 0.1 degrees, and therefore are dismissed by many scientists as meaningless."

The article quotes MIT atmospheric scientist Richard Lindzen who said, “It’s typical misleading nonsense. We’re talking about less than a tenth of degree with an uncertainty of about a quarter of a degree. Moreover, such small fluctuations – even if real – don’t change the fact that the trend for the past 20 years has been much less than models have predicted.”

The media routinely posts sensationalist headlines such as "Earth Sizzles!" when discussing world temperature.  Koonin suggested more realistic alternatives such as “Global Temperatures Up 0.0X for 2016; Within Margin of Error for Last N Years," or “Sea Level Rose 0.1 Inches Last Year, Consistent With Century-Long Trend.”

The media has been exaggerating climate stories for years. Let’s hope some in the Fourth Estate start reporting the whole story – including the remarks of bold forthright experts like Steven Koonin and Richard Lindzen.

 Town Board Meeting                                                    2-14-2017

Happy Valentines' Day to all the sweethearts out there!

Tonight's meeting was a long one. It began with a Special Meeting at 6:30 that turned out to be another Executive Session that went on until almost 7:30. So we caught-up with friends and had a nice chat.

The highlight of the meeting was of course, the presentation by Robin Reynolds from the Capital District Regional Planning Commission. Yup, same girl who came the last two times. I had FOUR pages of counter-points in hand, ready to rebut the third proposal of the Climate Smart Communities Program, but it wasn't necessary. The proposal tonight was very different from the two we heard before.

Apparently, Bruce Shenker has finally accepted the fact that our Board will not swallow the bait for the CSC, and what was discussed tonight instead, is a scaled-down program that will allow towns to receive grant money for specific goals such as Solar Energy. NO Pledges or Contracts like the other program required. Much safer and far more innocuous, but I will still watch it closely, as should we ALL.

Just for the sake of not letting my research go to waste, I am posting the rebuttal I had prepared for the Climate Smart Communities Program, because I feel you all need to know what it involves. You never know when it might come up for consideration again, and we need to be aware of the pitfalls ahead of time. So here is what I had prepared.

                               #####################

The OTHER Side of the Story

Climate Smart Communities Grants range from $100,000.00 to #2 Million Dollars to fund efforts to mitigate the effects of "alleged Climate Change"  by reducing greenhouse gas emissions through waste management and "transportation restrictions ". This would include relocation or retro-fitting of climate vulnerable facilities!

The 2016-2017 NY State Budget includes appropriations of $300 MILLION dollars for this environmental effort that includes the CSC Program and is the dream-child of Andrew Cuomo. Of course. This is the highest level of funding for the environment in NY in History, and exceeds the 2015-2016 budget by $123 Million dollars!

At a 2016 meeting, Mr. Shenker stated that New Lebanon is the ONLY town in Columbia County that has not adopted the CSC. As of today, NO Columbia County town has signed-on, and only SIX have agreed to try the new, scaled-down program that was presented tonight. They are as follows:
 1) Ancram
 2) Chatham
 3) Copake
 4) Ghent
 5) Hillsdale
 6) Kinderhook

According to the CSC Website, the acceptance of the CSC Program requires BROAD SUPPORT of the ENTIRE COMMUNITY, and NOT just from the Supervisor and Board. Sound familiar? One of the Hudson Valley Greenway grants received by Ruth Abram for Behold New Lebanon, carried the same requirement, but it was ignored by Abram, the Grant Providers, AND the former Town Supervisor and Board. Which of course means that the grant was obtained fraudulently. The public was NEVER consulted.

The CSC Program also requires the following:

 1) A "Pledge" to adhere to the requirements as a "Community". Which would mean ALL of us.
 2) An internal "Green Team".
 3) A community Climate Action Plan.
 4) An emissions inventory.
 5) Emissions Reduction.
 6) Energy audits of all town buildings.
 7) Vulnerability Assessments.
 8) A review of all existing town programs and projects to identify climate adaptation strategies.

               But WAIT, there's MORE!

Just TWO of the many grants available via the CSC are:
 1) Up to $10.5 Million Dollars to implement Climate protection programs.
 2) Up to $500,000. for CSC Certification Projects.

The strings attached to these "grants" include:

 1) Land Acquisition.
Um, New Lebanon already has FAR too many acres of land under the control of Conservation and Forever Wild protection programs, leaving very little for new home sites and agricultural uses. Not to mention the loss in taxes. How exactly would these Land Acquisitions be implemented? Eminent Domain?

 2) Zero-Emission Vehicles and a reduction in the number of vehicles used by the town and residents.
 3) CLEAN Transportation.  (What would THIS be? Skateboards, bicycles, roller skates?)
 4) Relocation of all climate-vulnerable facilities.  (HUH???)
 5) Recycling of all food waste, including composting sites and digester facilities. (Local restaurants will LOVE that one!)
 6) Conserve Flood Plains. ( How do you do THAT? I live in the Flood Plain, so what are they going to do, take my property and my neighbors' by Eminent Domain and tear down our homes?)
 7) Reduce ALL driving and decrease number of trips.
 8) Sign a Five-Year Contract to complete these requirements or return grant money.

Participating towns must adhere to the requirements and standards described in the CSC Manual.  (I.E: Government Restrictions and oversight. Scared yet?)

So, WHY are we being inundated with these Environmentally Extreme programs and UNproven claims of Global Warming? (See: M.I.T Climate Change Disproven)  Well, let me TELL you why!

 1) The wealthy elitists and liberal politicians are all deeply invested in Green Energy Companies, and there are literally BILLIONS of dollars at stake here.  The lie must be perpetrated continuously and folks like Bruce are merely pawns in the chess game to gain total control of the people.  They are being lied to and USED, and they don't even know it!

 2) To provide government with even MORE control over private properties and prevent us from using our property as we see fit. Take a look at the mid-West.

The Climate Change Hoax and Environmental Extremism is nothing less than another, surreptitious Theft of Freedom. Anything bearing the label of Climate, Sustainable, or Conservation, MUST be closely examined for the hidden dangers that lie within.  Free cheese is only available in a mouse trap. Question EVERYTHING!
###########################################################

Still an opening remaining on the Planning Board. Last month, an application from Monte Wasch was voted down and the position re-advertised. Since there have been no new applicants, Monte sent a letter to the board requesting that they reconsider HIS application. It was AGAIN voted down, 4-1. "Nuff said.

Our sympathy to Kevin Smith who had a vehicle drive into his Pizza Restaurant last Friday. We're here to swing hammers and paintbrushes when you're ready, Kev!

 Shadow Valley                                                                2-15-2017

When I think back to when my son was a little kid in elementary school, I am reminded of what the school board was like in those days. You know what? It wasn't a whole lot different than it is today.

School Boards are notorious for being made-up of Snobs and people with inflated egos. LOL!!  Funny how that's always been true, isn't it? Of course there are good, down-to-earth folks who have also served but in general, it's a clique of opinionated wanna-bes.

Our present, New Lebanon School Board is in need of a strong, wake-up call. The NLCS was recently cited for having "Too Much Money" lying idle in their budget, but tonight, they voted UNANIMOUSLY, to deny a tiny, school-tax exemption for our local veterans! How horribly shameful is THAT ?! How embarrassing that NLCS is the ONLY school district in all of Columbia County that does NOT provide this exemption ?!

Interesting thing is, that this stingy, greedy school board will be asking for a Bond Resolution of TWELVE MILLION DOLLARS this year, for fewer than 390 students in both schools, COMBINED. Yes, you read that right. They claim that the roofs need repair again, and they probably do, seeing as how some idiot decided it was a good thing to build flat-roofed schools in upstate NY. DUH. These roofs have been repaired over and over and over.

With so FEW students, should we be willing to give the district MORE money ? NO! Should the school board have granted an infinitesimal exemption to soldiers who risked life and limb for their safety and freedoms? YES!  How about we use the school budget excess to fix ONE roof, and combine the two schools under it? Cut a few employees while we're at it?

I sincerely hope that voting taxpayers in New Lebanon will remember the school board's treatment of our veterans when it comes time to vote on the school budget.

                      ###############################

Our cold-hearted school board is not the only shadow hanging over our valley tonight. Hundreds of locals were aware that Dunkin Donuts would be submitting an application to the Planning Board at tonight's meeting. So where WERE you ?! FOUR members of the public attended. FOUR. Are you KIDDING me? Okay, it wasn't a Public Hearing, but it MATTERED that we had a show of interested and engaged residents. Is anyone still breathing in this town ?

Well you MIGHT be interested to know that our Town Engineer, Paul McCreary, has had to dis-engage from the Dunkin Donuts issue, because he is REPRESENTING Dunkin Donuts!  I would hope that you might wonder why the interests of the Town did not take precedence for him, but do we really NEED to wonder? Isn't it a matter of which client was paying more?  So the Town has to hire an outside engineer to represent it, at the cost of the applicant, but REALLY? Oh, I forgot that the wallet trumps loyalty today. My apologies.

As if we didn't already know this, the fact that the building site in question belongs to K.B Chittenden and was at last notice, tied-up in bankruptcy court, was also discussed. No one could say for certain if it was Chapter 7,11,or 13, and no one was sure if the matter had been resolved or not.  So that too, must be looked into thoroughly. I DO know that Stewarts has been waiting on an expansion and new building for several years, until K.B cleared this up for THEM.

Family Dollar took an existing space, while Dunkin Donuts intends to build a brand-new building right in the middle of our main road.  Competition is a healthy thing for our economy, but for Heaven's Sake, we have Buckys, Blueberry Hill, and Stewarts to get coffee and donuts, and we have a Dunkin Donuts a mere 10 minutes away in Canaan. How many darn donuts can 2000 people EAT?

Naturally, D.O.T will have to weigh-in as well as the Dept. of Health, but the final decision is really in the hands of the residents who bother to get involved. This proposed store will be open from 5 a.m through 11 p.m, seven days a week, year-round. There will be added traffic, signage, and lighting, an independent water well and septic system, and a Drive-Thru Window. The building was described tonight as a " Colonial Cottage" style, but in the pictures, it still looks like an ugly, uber-commercial, fast food joint.  In a town where so many residents "claim" to be dedicated to the preservation of our unique, rural flavor, is this what we want?

There WILL be a Public Hearing on this issue, probably at the April, Planning Board Meeting. THAT meeting will be what decides the aesthetic future of New Lebanon. If we accept Dunkin Donuts, then we have to accept McDonalds, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and any other eyesore business that applies. We will become the next East Greenbush. Do you really want to open that door?  If you fail to show up at the Public Hearing, you are surrendering your right to a choice. Plan to attend, then FOLLOW THROUGH!

 School Board SHAME !                                                 2-19-2017

I did not attend the meeting of the New Lebanon School Board, but I have sure heard ALL about it from a number of people who DID attend!

You all know what happened with the vote re: Veteran Tax Exemptions, as I posted about that on the 15th. You also know that I have been involved in more Conservative Activism and Issues than I can count anymore, at every level of government. There are SO many urgent matters that need attention, that it is impossible to address or even PROCESS them all.  I have seen and listened to things that absolutely astound me, and many things that rob me of sleep. For some reason though, what occurred at that school board meeting has cut me to the core like few other things ever have. It has truly sickened me in the literal sense of the word.

I'm not even going to attempt to be half-way "Nice" in this post, because the people involved don't deserve my restraint. Believe it or not, despite my refusal to be Politically-Correct, I generally DO try to not say the things I really WANT to say about certain people in this town. Yeah, all the times I have ranted and told it like it is about local politicians and candidates, I have toned it down from what you would hear if you were inside my home. There IS a line that even I  don't cross. I'm going to cross it TONIGHT.

It was appalling enough that our School Board voted unanimously to deny the Veteran Exemption, but it's actually far worse than the vote alone. It's probably a very GOOD thing that I was at the Planning Board meeting, keeping an eye on the Dunkin Donuts matter, and NOT at the school board meeting, because I am 100% certain that I would have been asked to vacate the premises.

Gary Flaherty our Angel of Veterans, was there, as well as our Town Supervisor, Colleen Teal. A number of veterans came from all over the county to support this exemption for our Local veterans. Apparently, the Chatham Courier Rag also sent a reporter, because they have a video on their web page that will make you scream! More on that later!

Let's start with one of the attendees that stood and gave a speech. An Anti-Veteran  Speech, in fact. A 2006 graduate of New Lebanon High School, made statements against our veterans that I am told were deplorable and disgusting. One of the school board members is a relative of this young woman, perhaps her father, but since I don't know the family, I cannot say for certain what their relationship is. Their last name is Brutsch.

There was another objector that made public comments that I found more than a little surprising. Gary Millett, a veteran himself, spoke about how fortunate he and his wife, a former Army nurse, were for having served in the military. Their careers as Pilot and Nurse were the result of their military training and they have been very successful as a result. Mr. Millett stated that he felt he had no right to expect his neighbors to ease his tax burden. Well, he is right!

The Milletts HAVE been fortunate and successful, and their service to this country is honorable.  However, I think they fail to consider that they are a minority, and that MANY veterans are NOT so fortunate, but are struggling and need every extra dollar they can get their hands on. Why would Mr. Millett presume to speak for THEM, or stand in the way of something that could be a blessing TO them?

Mr. Millett and others who share his opinion, have the choice to Opt-Out of the exemption, and it is a commendable thing to NOT take what you don't truly NEED. Yet it is DIS-honorable to oppose this opportunity for others. You can hear Mr. Millett's comments on the Chatham Rag in the video they posted. Notice that they posted ONLY his comments, and NOT the anti-Veteran rant of the young woman, or the support for the exemption by Colleen Teal , Gary Flaherty, and a good number of veterans who would benefit from it. Below the Courier video, you will see a comment made by none other than  former New Lebanon resident and teacher, Lee Kochenour, congratulating Mr. Millett on his statement.

Surprised? You shouldn't be. Like so many teachers, Lee has always cozied-up to the wealthiest and most successful parents in the district and snubbed the regular folks. It's just the way school etiquette works, always has. Not being a resident of New Lebanon any longer, his comments are meaningless, anyway.

I cannot speak for anyone else in town, but I am ashamed to live in the ONLY school district in all of Columbia County  to deny this exemption to our heroes. It is embarrassing and shameful.

                  REMEMBER  IN  MAY !!!!!!!

This very school board has the moxie to be asking for a $12,000,000.00 bond in May when we vote on the school budget !!!!! They want to update the high school kitchen, do more of the never-ending roof repairs, and if I had to guess, probably stock-up on copies of Mein Kampf for the library. With only 380-something students in the entire district, I suggest we CLOSE one school and put all the kids under ONE, leaky roof! Cut Staff! Want a new kitchen? Hold some Bake Sales and Car Washes and EARN it ! While you're at it, how about obeying the State Law that requires regular, Civic Education for all students?  Apparently, the Brutsch girl never learned anything about our Constitution, or why we HAVE protected rights, or WHY we have never LOST those rights!
This school board was recently cited by the state for having an excess of funds in their budget, yet they cannot and will not sacrifice a few dollars to ease the burden of veterans?  Well, if that's how they want to play it, why should the hard-working taxpayers of New Lebanon give THEM anything? Give them NOTHING!  Vote NO to any budget increases and NO to their bond !!!!  NO MORE MONEY!

                                  ##########################

                          To the Brutsch woman, I have this to say;

When you stood and expressed your views at the school board meeting, you were exercising your First Amendment Right to Freedom of Speech.  It is a blessing to live in a country where that right and so many others are guaranteed and protected. Few countries enjoy such liberties. Do you ever wonder WHY Americans have these freedoms, how they came to be and how we have managed to retain them for generations?

I urge you to read the Bill of Rights and then imagine living in a country where this document does not exist. Where women are beaten, stoned, or have acid thrown in their faces for disobeying their husbands or fathers. Or a country that kills any citizen who dares to speak up. We Americans are a Free People ONLY because strong, courageous men and women risked everything, including their lives, to earn and forever preserve Liberty.

Millions of young Americans have left their families and safety behind to fight in muddy trenches, sweltering jungles, and scorching sand in the name of Freedom and to ensure our rights and protections for their children, their grandchildren, and for ungrateful, spoiled brats like YOU.  Yes, YOU owe your Freedom to Soldiers and former soldiers, otherwise known as Veterans, the very people you so shamefully disparaged and trod upon in your little speech.

Thank GOD that I am not your parent, because if I were, I would be too ashamed to admit it. If it were up to me, (and be glad it isn't), YOU would be emptying bedpans at the Albany V.A for the next year, attending group-therapy sessions for veterans who suffer from PTSD, and Physical Therapy for veterans who are re-learning how to live with a missing limb or two. YOU would be forced to stand beside the parents, spouses, siblings, and children of soldiers as they come home in boxes and their families are handed a folded flag! You, would be learning about respect, sacrifice, and gratitude.

Your sense of entitlement and ignorance of the cost of Freedom is appalling. Shame on you and shame on the entire school board. Shame on parents who raise clueless, selfish children like you. Want to make a REAL statement? Study the Constitution, research the American Revolution and the wars that followed it, then go out and TEACH others, always mindful of the debt YOU owe to every American Soldier and Veteran. For today, you owe them an apology!

Opinions, Please ?                                                     2-23-2017

For the past year, we have seen a lot of improvements in our town, especially in Town Government. Believe it or not, even the Flag Project is finally getting off the ground with the involvement of our local VFW. In the next few weeks , we will have an account for folks to send their donations to. This summer, our Red, White, and Blue will be waving from many of the utility poles on Rt. 20, from Rt.22 South to Rt. 22 North.

The matter with the School Board has been a real negative for us, and so is the possibility of a Dunkin Donuts rising out of the ground next to Stewarts. Now, we are looking at the Habitat for Humanity Project  coming into town. Don't get me wrong, this is an awesome charity, especially since it requires the recipient of the home to actually take part in the renovation. This program has made it possible for many families to have their own homes, folks who would never have been able to dream of home ownership before! I always understood this program to be an Urban one though, not a rural one.

I think it would be a nice thing to welcome a new family into New Lebanon and see them get a hand-up, but I also have some concerns about what this may open the door to. If we allow Habitat to come in, what might be next, Low-Income housing projects ? We narrowly escaped THAT horror several years ago when one such housing development was proposed for West Lebanon, and squashed by local objectors.

2017 is becoming a very, scary year for this town, and we all need to be vigilant and involved. We have a school board that has zero respect for our veterans and Civic Education, a Comprehensive Plan that has been rendered impotent by the acceptance of National Chain Stores, the constant threat of Sustainable Development Programs and Climate Initiatives, Government Grants, and Liberal Nonsense like Behold New Lebanon

What is very worrisome, is that if we continue on this present course, we could see New Lebanon become another East Greenbush in the next three or four years. We need to decide as a Community, if we truly wish to preserve our town's rural and unique flavor, or toss it all to the wind and let anything that wants to come in, just come IN! By allowing Dunkin Donuts to build a store here, we are bound to allow any other fast-food business to do the same. By ignoring the embarrassing behavior of our school board and the failure of our district to consistently teach Civics as required by LAW, we are teaching our children that our history is of no consequence and that they owe no allegiance to their country or the people who have kept it free.

By welcoming the Habitat Project, we COULD be inviting development that we will forever regret. These are just MY concerns, and I am VERY interested in what others are thinking or feeling. Whatever happens will affect ALL of us, Right or Left, Young or Old, Life-timer or Transplant. What are our business owners thinking ? We NEED more business, but what are we willing to sacrifice and accept to get it? Are we going to insist that the Comprehensive Plan be followed, or simply sit back and allow the commercialization of our old-fashioned sanctuary? I am curious, and in all honesty, alarmed at what I'm seeing.

I love this town and I'm deeply invested in it, emotionally, financially, politically, and even spiritually. My husband was born and raised here, my son was raised here, my step-children and my grandchildren were raised here, and we have agonized over many of the negative changes we have seen over the years, mostly due to outsider influence. Change is inevitable, but it doesn't have to be negative unless we allow it to be.

We can no longer afford to be apathetic folks, it's time to weigh-in and have a say in the future of New Lebanon. If the majority WANTS to become a mini-city, so be it, but if they don't, there isn't much time to left to preserve what we  have left of the original New Lebanon. It's now or never.

 Losses and Gains                                                         2-27-2017

Another sad day for New Lebanon. We are all praying for Randy and Carol Lukas and their children, Meredith and Nathaniel. Losing your home and all your possessions is a horrible experience, but they know that they have the support of hundreds of us and their needs will be filled! Most of all, they are a Family of Faith, and take great comfort in their God who protected them and always will.

Many efforts are in place to assist this much-loved family, and I will keep you posted on donations sites and needs. Right now, clothing is probably the most serious need as well as meals. The family is temporarily staying at the Holiday Inn, using Randy's accumulated , Frequent Flyer perks  and giving themselves a little break to use a pool and a hot tub and let someone else make the beds. They need and deserve that rest, as there is a long road ahead.

Please remember our LVPA members who answer the call no matter what the time or weather, and when you see one of them, thank them for fighting the Lukas fire in the bitter cold and ice this morning. It takes very special people to be First Responders, and they need our prayers and appreciation. Thank You Firefighters, for all that you do!

                   #####################################

Habitat for Humanity has clarified their program and intentions for New Lebanon, eliminating my concerns and the concerns of many others in town.  I was pleased to learn that any Habitat house in New Lebanon, will be FOR  a New Lebanon Family, not outsiders. The program is, as I said in my last post, a blessing for young families who need a safer place to raise their kids and gives them an opportunity to own their own home that would never be possible via traditional methods.  That soothes my wary soul, because for ME, New Lebanon comes FIRST, New Lebanon Residents come FIRST, and if we are to have Habitat Homes here, they SHOULD be for local residents in need.

I had one family come immediately to mind for this project, and I'm sure there are many more. Nice thing is, that if this one works out, the program will continue here and house MORE local residents! In addition, there is a satellite program attached that benefits Senior Citizens , and that too, is what I love to hear! These are the types of programs I can support and champion. NO grants, NO handouts, NO left-wing agenda, and NO new regulations. Just good old, Community Caring. People helping people, and not looking to government to take "Care" of us or our neighbors.

Requiring the beneficiaries of Programs like Habitat to actually do some of the work, is such a positive approach! It not only instills a sense of responsibility and self-sufficiency, but at the same time, the feeling of pride and accomplishment that no Freebie Program could ever provide. We SHOULD be spending Welfare Dollars on programs like this that lift people UP and set them on their feet, rather than give them everything for free and enslave them to a lifetime of dependence and failure, low self-esteem and a a legacy of an entitlement outlook.

As long as we remain vigilant to any sneaky pieces that will promote public housing, Habitat should be a very good thing for us. Dunkin Donuts? Not so much. There is SO much at stake with this issue, and I hope that more locals will take a close look and get involved.

I think I've said just about all I CAN say in regards to this threat, but a review might be in order, as this is going to move VERY quickly.  New Lebanon is seriously in need of some economic growth. Whether a grocery store and/or pharmacy is in our future or not, no one can say. Still, is it really so awful to have to drive to Chatham or Pittsfield for a monthly stock-up? When we chose to live in the country, we gave up some conveniences to gain so many things that are far better, like our rural scenery, farm animals, woodlands, almost non-existent crime rate, and a general, slower-pace of life. This is a great place to raise kids or to retire.

So what KIND of business do we want to attract to our town? Do we want to retain our rural and historical flavor and shun commercialism, or do we, in our desperation for economic growth, ANY growth, want to water-down our original vision?  The Comprehensive Plan is much like a Constitution, and we have violated it once by allowing Family Dollar to come in. Are we now willing to render that Constitution null and void for a Dunkin Donuts?  Yes, Stewarts is a Chain Store, but they are a State chain, not a National one, and they were here before the present Comprehensive Plan was completed.

Family Dollar is an example of what can happen when we get too desperate, too anxious, and too careless. They sell much of what the IGA did, including housewares, some automotive care items, hardware, etc. IGA even sold Tee Shirts and paperback books! So Family Dollar is not much different from the old IGA and it took the IGA's old location, which is pretty unobtrusive. In reality, Family Dollar is pretty much a small grocery store sans the fresh meat and produce. They have filled a need to a point, but they have also put us in a precarious position by opening that door to chain stores.

One of the coolest things about living in New Lebanon is NOT having to see a mile of Fast-Food joints like Taco Bell, McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, and yes, Dunkin Donuts. If we WANT those things, we can get them by driving 10 to 30 minutes away. Our town has managed to escape the commercial ugliness with the exception of the Midtown Mall that Ward Hatch cursed us with. Even that eyesore could be made attractive with a continuation of the wood facade that M&M has, or something similar to the quaint look of the Tilden Plaza. A little rough-cut lumber and it's a whole new world! I'm sure our local sawmill, New Britain Log and Lumber, would LOVE to have the contract!

The Comprehensive Plan?  We screwed-up.  Question is, can we BACK-up? I don't know, I'm not a lawyer, but I think we SHOULD and wish we WOULD. I would love it if we stopped accepting chain stores of any type NOW, while we still CAN. Encourage small, privately-owned businesses by offering them their first year, tax-free, some set-up assistance and promotion, etc.

Right now, TODAY, we are teetering on a precipice, and it's decision time. Preservation or Commercialization? Uniqueness or just the cookie-cutter look of most other towns with Fast-Food Freeways?  The Dunkin Donuts decision may very well be the most important one we ever make as a community, because it will decide the future of this town. If you are at ALL interested or concerned, please plan to attend the public hearing once it is scheduled.  In addition, start talking to our Supervisor and Town Councilmen NOW.

Whatever the outcome, it should be what a community majority decides, and not just a handful of officials, good as they are. This matter needs to be VOTED on! What the people decide it should be, it will be, and those who disagree with that decision will accept the outcome and move on, and yes, that includes ME. The aesthetic, historical and rural treasures of this town depend on our response to this issue.

                      ############################

Here's an interesting item; Remember the local vet I told you about that helped veto the School Tax, Vet Exemption ? After he made a statement at the school board meeting about how no one should have to bear the tax burden of another, he left the meeting and told other attendees that if the exemption had passed, he would have applied for it !! That isn't ALL. He DOES benefit from the Property  Tax, Veteran Exemption !  Can you say, "Hypocrite"?

 MARCH 2017 ARCHIVES

What's Good for the Goose....                                      3-2-2017

It's that time of year again. Everyone you talk to is sick, has been sick, or has a family member that's sick. With weather swinging from summer to winter in less than 24 hours, it's not surprising.

My household has been sharing some crazy germs for over a week, and I was bragging about how I escaped it all. Famous last words. LOL!!  My turn has arrived!  So take your vitamins, get lots of sleep, and stay away from the coughers and sneezers.

I've been trying to pay a little less attention to the news lately, mostly because I have too much to get done and my patience level is not up to par as it is. With the old guy's addiction to TV AND refusing to wear his hearing-aids, it's hard to NOT hear what's happening in D.C, so it manages to creep in. So far, I've been able to take most of it with a grain of salt and a sense of humor. Seriously, what isn't funny about grown Liberals who cannot get over their election loss and resort to desperate accusations against the New Regime?

This week's victim is Jeff Sessions, probably the most decent and honest politician Trump has appointed. As a Senator, part of his job was to speak with dignitaries from other countries, but Heaven Forbid he spoke to a Russian or two while performing his duties. This whole Russian Election-Intervention crap is getting tiring. The most amusing part of all this Sore-Loser revenge game of the Dems, is that they fail to remember or admit what THEIR  administration did for 8 straight years!

By NO MEANS am I suggesting that ANY Official should get away with serious mis-conduct, you all know where I stand on that. Party is immaterial when it comes to corruption. Yet I have clear recollections of Barack Obama violating Constitutional Law at will more times than I can count, and NOTHING being said by the Democrats at ALL. I remember many cases of out and out TREASON, Secret Emails, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, False Flag Ops, and outright lies about Taxes, Social Security, and Healthcare, not to mention Climate Change.

Hillary sold American Uranium to Putin. Obama was caught on video during his second campaign, telling the Russian Ambassador  that,   "I will have more flexibility after I'm re-elected ". We ALL saw that, HEARD that, and still, nothing was done or even SAID by the Dems. Yet here the crybabies are, throwing accusations at newly-appointed Republicans based on rumor and little else. Double-Standard, anyone?

There are a lot of horrible traits among Liberals, but their one-sided enforcement of Constitutional Law is the worst one. IF one of Trump's appointees is proven without a doubt  to have been in collusion with the Russians, he or she deserves the ultimate punishment. Um, but doesn't Hillary, Holder, Reid, and Obama deserve their ultimate punishments as well?  I gotta tell ya, I would be the first to back-up those calling for accountability IF  they called for it equally. IF they were on the attack due to REAL crimes or violations, and not based on bad sportsmanship and a hunger for revenge. That's all this is, immature brats that cannot bear their loss.

I hope Trump simply flips them off and gets on with the business of trying to repair 8 years of Socialist rule. Here's another one for you, when in the history of America, did you ever see a President call his cabinet members, CZARS? When did you ever see the White House brimming with Muslim officials in positions that made them privy to Top-Secret information, following the worst attack on our soil by Islamic Terrorists? When did you see people arrested for praying in front of the White House while there exists a Muslim Prayer Room INSIDE the Pentagon?  You saw all of that under Obama. Imagine if Bush or Reagan had run guns to the Mexican Cartels that resulted in the death of hundreds of innocent Mexican citizens, including Police Officers, and at least one, American Border Guard ?  Libs don't talk about that. Nor do they recognize the PROOF that Fast and Furious was all an effort to further demonize guns in America.

Libs don't talk about the trail of dead bodies that the Clintons have left behind them, or that Obama directed Eric Holder to investigate himself  in the Fast and Furious disaster. Libs never asked why the President's closest advisor was a Muslim, Iranian woman whose father was a Communist. Hell, they voted for a president whose father and grandparents were card-carrying Commies and whose mother posed in the nude for smut magazines. Yet they tear Melania Trump apart and try to disqualify Canadian-Born, American candidates. They have even tried to accuse the little, 10-year-old boy, Barron Trump, of being autistic and a future Serial Killer! Does it get any lower?

What if George W. Bush had ordered our rescue teams to Stand Down while our Seals were being attacked in Benghazi and begging for help? The blow-back would have been heard around the world! What if Jeff Sessions had a secret email account and hidden computers in a closet somewhere that he used to openly discuss Confidential, National Security Info ? What if Gen. Mattis deliberately incited Black Americans to kill our police officers? There would be a lot of Republicans hanging from ropes right now, because the Liberals would demand it, and so would the Conservative people of America. WE would call OUR political criminals out, as we did with Richard Nixon. Libs don't do that, they make excuses, they riot, they cry, and they protect and defend their criminals and deviates.

If the Left wants to continue to stall appointments and make false accusations against those who HAVE been appointed, then they must first clean their own houses. When Hillary, Holder, Obama, and Harry Reid are held legally accountable for their Felonies, High Crimes and Misdemeanors, corruption, and lies, THEN, and ONLY then, do they have the right to look at anyone else from any other party. When the Dems do the right thing, they will have the support of Republicans and Conservatives in holding guilty members of the Trump administration, just as accountable.  If there ARE any.

Remember, EQUAL JUSTICE under the Law. Being Liberal, Homosexual, Black, Mexican, Muslim, or just a spoiled, wealthy brat, does not exempt anyone from paying for their bad behaviors. One thing the Left forgets that it never should; WE have GOD on OUR side.

  Ohhhh, Ladeeeees !                                                     3-8-2017

Good Evening to all my female readers. (and you guys who are too curious to click out). Did you know that today was a "Special Day" for American Women?  Neither did I, until it was over.  LOL!!

Don't worry your little soul over it, you didn't miss anything. Today was "A Day Without a Woman " day, not just in our country, but in numerous ones. Women and girls gathered to protest inequality, female-owned businesses closed, so many teachers failed to show up at school, that many of those schools had to close. It just goes on and on. I didn't even notice.

Of course, this stupidity was organized by the same crazy broads that organized the Women's March that resulted in the trashing of major cities in every state and had grown women running around in vagina hats. Okay, I get it that a lot of women in the workplace do not receive the same pay as a man for doing the exact same job, and yes, that is unfair and discriminatory. It SHOULD be addressed, but GEEZ, can't they approach it with a little dignity and reason?

The Battle of the Sexes has always been a reality and I don't see it going away anytime soon. However, I HAVE seen women make astounding strides since the 1960s, and today, a determined woman can become anything or anyone she wishes to be! For crying out loud, my first full-time job was as an auto mechanic for Sears Auto Center, and then I became a cop.  That was in the 70s and 80s, and no one denied me the opportunity to do what I wanted to do or go where I wanted to go!

We have all the same rights as men, and in some cases, MORE rights. There are employers who are forced by LAW to hire a less able female over an experienced male in order to meet their "Token-Woman" Quota! Much like it is with minority favoritism. Yet these women who feel "oppressed" and the minorities who continue to demand "Equality", are in reality, asking for "Special Rights", and not equality at all. How about we start over and instead of crying over every imagined slight, we take a good look at how far we have all come, female AND minority, and be thankful and self-reliant?

How about we exercise, defend, and protect our unique, American Freedoms and opportunities and grow up? What exactly DO these Feminists WANT? How can they scream for Equality when what they are really asking for is "Superiority"? How can they believe that they DESERVE equality when they are so immature, ungrateful, and ignorant ? What they SHOULD get is a swift kick in their spoiled asses. These radicals are an embarrassment to REAL American women, and they deserve ZERO attention from media or society. GAG!!!!

Look ladies, we all have our complaints about men.  They fart and burp in public, scratch whatever itches no matter who might be looking, and spit on the damn sidewalk. There are plenty of chauvinists running around still, and just today, I complained to the men in MY house about that, and I didn't even know that today was actually designated for female whining! I get ticked-off that no matter how busy I might be with work or projects, I still have to be the one to stop in the middle and make dinner, do laundry, dishes, housework, errands, whatever. Men on the other hand, put in their time each day without interruption, come home to a clean house, a good meal, and fresh clothing, and their day is DONE. Our days NEVER end until we drop into bed, and THEN...... You know the drill.

If a man is sick, we have to become Nurse Nancy and be at his beck and call. When WE get sick, they go off and do their own thing and leave us to crawl to the kitchen for a glass of water. Then when we recover, we have the household destruction to clean-up that they created and ignored while we were down. LOL!!!  Yup, we can all relate, but you know what? It's that difference we talked about last month. Men and women are wired differently, and nothing we do or say can change that fact. No amount of whining or protesting is going to make men more like US, and really, isn't that a GOOD thing?

I wasn't attracted to traditionally male jobs only because I have always been a Tomboy, or  because guy jobs are more fun. I also prefer male jobs because I find it so much easier and more enjoyable to work with men than with women! Women are MEAN! They are competitive in everything, spiteful, back-stabbing, hormonal, moody, and disloyal. Especially in the workplace! Of course this is not true of ALL women, but it is definitely true of MOST of them! Nope, not for ME!  I would rather strap on a gun and wade into a bar fight than work in a clean little office with women.

Today's women tend to take their "equality" too far, too often, and with the "New American Men" coming out of colleges who are already sissified, today's young men are being emasculated by mean feminists. The relationship between man and woman is supposed to be a partnership, not a contest. They are physically stronger, while we are emotionally stronger. They kill the spiders, we nurture the babies. It is what it is ladies, and instead of trying to change what we can never change, why not learn to work together and appreciate those minor differences ?

Men are NOT superior to women, and women are NOT superior to men. It's okay to be a strong woman, but it is never okay to be a bully or a bitch. Be grateful for the freedoms that women in America enjoy and try using some of that anger and energy to defend those freedoms, rather than go out in public and act like animals.

Planning Board Meeting                                                  3-15-2017

I assume that everyone survived the Big Snow. I loved it, it was a taste of what Northeast winters SHOULD be. It always surprises me when the news makes a huge deal of a few inches of snow, because well, we ARE upstate New Yorkers, what's a little snow?

Tonight's Planning Board Meeting included a lot line change,  a permit app for the new, used car lot at the old Variety Motors site, and of course, DUNKIN DONUTS. So far, the residents of New Lebanon seem to be very disinterested in this matter, even though it will have a profound effect on the look and character of our town going forward. No one seems to care much that this will open the door to any and every Fast Food enterprise that wishes to open their doors here. Once we say YES to Dunkin, we are saying YES to all of them.

I can't speak for others, but I moved to the country to escape everything I hate about the city. I wanted to live far away from the commercial look of cities, the neon lights, signs, traffic lights, and ugly hamburger and pizza chains. Maybe it's just ME, but I would be heartbroken to see this town, one of the few rural towns still untouched by the French Fry Freeways, turn into another cookie-cutter, miniature, Las Vegas strip.  Right now, we are a long way from that, but once Dunkin comes in, we are on that road. NO turning back.

LEGALLY, there is little to nothing that we can do to stop this project. The franchisee has and is going through all the required steps and there is nothing in our go-bag to fight against it. The property itself has not yet been officially purchased by Mr. Leal, the closing is pending approval by the town and DOT. The ONLY violation that I can see in this proposal, is the number of signs involved. There are the two allowed, the one on the building and the one on the posts by the road. In addition to those, there will be the Menu Board at the Drive-Thru, and numerous small signs such as; Enter, Exit, One-Way, Drive-Thru, Parking, Come Again, etc. These were mentioned specifically by the engineer tonight. Yet Blueberry Hill was recently cited for having more than the two allowed.

Other than that, there are really NO violations of town codes in this proposal except that it IS a National Chain Store. Paul McCreary attempted to twist that fact tonight by stating that this business is a NOT a chain, but a Franchise. Weak argument there! He also said that nowhere in our Comprehensive Plan is there a mention of National Chain Stores, only Big Box stores. I don't have a copy of the document, so I can only go on what I've been told by Town Officials who SHOULD know. THEY tell me that Chain Stores ARE banned in the Comp. Plan. So it depends on who is reading it, I guess! Still, we have only ONE option to stop this nightmare, and that is Public Dissent.  The ONLY thing that can possibly keep New Lebanon from becoming a commercial strip, is YOU.

YOU have to attend the Public Hearing and SAY something! YOU have to write letters to the CEO, Cissy Hernandez. YOU have to write letters to the newspapers, and YOU have to spread the word! Only our objections can keep our town rural and unique. ONLY our objections and loyalty can save the businesses that Dunkin Donuts will take income away from.

In the past few months, I have seen more apathy and lack of concern about ANYTHING from the people, than I have ever seen before in my life! It's almost as if everyone is drinking a sleep potion and walking around like the world outside their living rooms does not exist.  Yeah, I'm TOO passionate about this stuff, I know, but for Heaven's sake folks, is there nothing you will stand for? Nothing you will object to?

I will guarantee you right now, that IF we have no turnout of dissenters at this public hearing next month, we WILL have a Dunkin Donuts operating in the middle of town by June. If that happens, so be it, as long as you understand that it will be that first slippery step to becoming a commercialized, ugly place to live and our history and culture will disappear forever. If you are okay with that, or choose to have sugary donuts closer to home, rather than protect the integrity of your town, so be it.

This will be a life-altering project for this town, and not in a good way, so think about it for more than a minute and decide what side you fall on, then DO something about it or forever hold your peace.

Dunkin Donuts Public Hearing:  Wednesday, April 19th at 7:30 p.m.

REMINDER: Town Board Mtg. Tomorrow at 7

March 2017 Town Board Meeting                                     3-16-2017

As you know, the TB Meeting was held tonight because it was cancelled for the Big Snow on Tuesday.  Attendance was quite low, probably due to most of the regulars not being aware of the date change.

The meeting went for 90 minutes and there's really not much of note to report. The "Free Store" is accepting donations of clothing and small childrens' items such as toys, baby seats, bouncy-chairs, etc. No housewares or books at this time. There is a serious need for shelving and clothes-hanging units, as well as the ever-popular, plastic storage tubs. Donations can be dropped at the Town Clerk's Office during regular hours. The store itself will be open to those in need on May 1st.

There was some discussion about the Bi-Centennial Celebration plans, work needed at the Park Pavilion and Basketball Court, Zoning Issues, the Music in the Park Program, and junkyards. LOL!! Lots of the usual odds and ends of running a small town.

The most interesting piece of tonight's meeting, to ME  at least, was the sole applicant for the Planning Board vacancy. After voting not to appoint Monte Wasch, twice, this person is so far, the only other resident to apply.  Who is it ?!   None other than young, Elizabeth Brutsch. Yes, THE Elizabeth Brutsch, the one who made the Anti-Veteran Speech at the School Board Meeting, and was partly responsible for the denial of the Veteran Tax Exemption proposal.

I had to ask for her last name to cement my suspicion that it was indeed, HER, as no one introduced her by anything other than her first name. Suffice it to say, that when she gave me her surname, she gave me a look that if looks could kill, would have dropped me where I sat. LOLOL!!  I love it.  So here is this 20-something, anti-American Brat, looking for a position in our town government, and I betcha I can guess what or WHOM led her to make that decision. I'm not as stupid as I look, ya know!

Anyway, she took off before I had the opportunity to speak with her. I SO  wanted to ask her how she felt about her freedom to apply for a political position and be fairly considered despite her young age and lack of experience and civic respect. Had she answered that she did indeed find that to be a convenient right, I would have strongly reminded her of WHY she HAS that right, and HOW her rights have managed to remain intact since the 1770s. She would have been quickly schooled on the role played by Soldiers and VETERANS, the very men and women she so venomously attacked at a public meeting. The people who made it possible for her to LAUNCH that verbal assault!

It is her right to apply for this position and she should be given a fair interview and consideration, because THAT is how America is supposed to operate. However, I will be praying numerous times per day, that she is rejected. No one with her views or opinions should serve in any form of government, and I hope that every veteran and family member of a veteran who reads this, will contact the Town Board members and tell them that you do NOT want this woman on our Planning Board or any other board. She is an embarrassment to this town and her disrespectful and hateful rant about our veterans, in FRONT of our veterans, is something to be condemned, not rewarded. As Andrew Cuomo is so fond of saying, "That is simply NOT who we are !"         IS it ?

REMINDERS !!!!!                                                         3-24-2017

The very first, bi-annual, Tri-Board Meeting will be held next Tuesday, March 28 at 7 p.m at the Town Hall. It is the new plan to have the Town Board, Planning Board, and Zoning Board meet together and build communication and cooperation skills among those boards. Why did we never do this before?  I believe that the CAC has also requested to be involved, and that's even better. The meeting is open to the public.

Not that there are any problems among the various board members, I am not aware of any, but when these folks get to know one another and the responsibilities of each board, I think things will progress in New Lebanon much more smoothly.Things ALWAYS work better when people take the time to get to know each other as people, instead of just titles or reputations. I am every bit as guilty as everyone else where this is concerned.

More times than I can count, I have formed opinions of people based on what I have HEARD about them, instead of getting to know them for myself. I would be the first one to criticize others for doing that, but I have caught myself committing the same crime more than once. Today, I am good friends with folks I avoided in the past just because I was "Told" that they were a problem in one way or another. Usually, the one who told me they were an issue, were the ones that actually needed avoiding!  LOL!!

On the flip-side, there are others, like Mike Benson, who are definitely just no good and UP to no good, and there is just no redemption for people like him and a good number of others, except with God, if they ask Him.  We have to remind ourselves every day, to take what we hear with a grain of salt, and do our OWN homework. Yes folks, that means ME,too!

Unfortunately, the Dunkin Donuts issue is not simple rumor or hearsay, it is very, very real and it is moving along rapidly. So please remember that the Public Hearing will be held on April 19th at 7:30 at the Town Hall. If you cannot attend, PLEASE send a letter or email to the Planning Board in care of the Town Clerk, and make YOUR voice heard. Keep it in mind that even though you may think that Dunkin Donuts is no big deal, what it opens the door to, IS

Please spread the word and speak up, for or against. In the meantime, Spring is here, and by next week, we should enjoy a little warmer weather. Let's try to get out and REACH out this summer, get to know one another a little better.                Sleep well,  JJ

 Time to Double-Down !!                                                  3-28-2017

In 2007, I got involved in local politics due to the outrageous abuse of a resident by a literally insane town official.

I was not well-acquainted with this resident OR the official, but when presented with the documents and story of what was happening, I was flabbergasted by the corruption and the failure of our then Town Board, to do anything about it. Not only was this resident being tormented for no valid reason, but the campaign against him was costing taxpayers thousands and thousands of dollars!  In the end, the total was $167,000.00 and change, and for all intents and purposes, the town LOST.

Those were the nightmare days of Bruce Baldwin and Doug Clark, and the unrestrained tyranny they consistently perpetrated upon the people of New Lebanon. In the case of Baldwin, it was decades of dirty dealings.  Yes, he did a lot of GOOD things for the town, but the BAD he did made those things hard to appreciate.

People in general have poor memories, or selective ones, depending on their political views. Major violations and crimes are not only shrugged-off and excused, but buried by NEW violations and assaults so quickly, that the last ones are lost in space. Very few people remember or care about past behaviors, regardless of how seriously unacceptable they may have been at the time.

It has always been hard for me to grasp the idea that so many people simply don't CARE. Anything goes today, whether it be teenagers walking around in pajamas with lip piercings and tattoos, or a politician literally assassinating their opposition and calling it "Suicide". There is no longer any outrage or strong objection to deplorable behaviors by our fellow  Americans including our own children and spouses. It just isn't the America I grew up in, and all the rules have changed.

There is honestly no one I can think of that I actually "Hate", but there is an endless list of BEHAVIORS that I hate. Not just the usual dishonesty and corruption, but the lack of opposition TO the bad behaviors, the pervasive Apathy that has become the normal response toward anything that is repulsive. Where is the integrity and character that were once the most notable traits of the American people? It's depressing and frustrating, to say the LEAST.

Over the years that I have been active locally and written this blog, I have seen many different responses to what I discuss and object to. Some people are very interested and complimentary, others even thank me for reporting information that they would never get elsewhere. Then there are those who despise the blog, and ME, and do nothing but call out my occasional spelling or grammar mistakes, or send me emails using fake names and toss-away , email addresses.  Cowards.

I expect and deserve criticism and debate, it's important to have differing views, but when I tell people about a vital issue that they should be concerned about, rather than weigh-in on the matter, they attack a spelling error! SERIOUSLY ?!?  Is that the best you can do?  I make mistakes numerous times a day, as do we all, and I have NEVER claimed to be perfect or consistently accurate, but I do my best and always try to correct mistakes I make in grammar AND information! I would NEVER knowingly mislead or provide false information, and I do everything I can to vet the information I receive from others. It is impossible to be 100% on the mark, 100% of the time. I too, am human.

That being said, you might think that I would throw-in the towel and just quit. After all, some weeks I get 30 to 50 readers a night, and other weeks, I might get 4 or 5 readers a night. That doesn't matter to me even a little bit. What matters, is that the information is here for anyone who CARES to be plugged-in, and it's up to YOU whether you read it or not. I am not Channel 6 and thank GOD, I am not CNN! I'm willing to take the negative feedback and dirty looks, but I am NOT willing to be silent about things that SHOULD matter.

So, rather than fold to the pressure of those who abhor me and what I have to say, I intend to double-down and say things even more strongly than I have in the past. No one HAS to read this blog, and no one HAS to agree with me or have the same response as I do. That is not the goal of this page at all, the goal is to make people THINK about our situation as a town and as a country, and to take a serious look at where we have gone in the past two decades, what we have lost and who we have become as a people. My goal is to inspire others to get involved and do what they can to make our country stronger, one little town at a time. One PERSON at a time.

Put your seat-belts on and get ready, because we are going to talk about HARD things, unpleasant things, and REAL things that a lot of people are completely unaware of. We are going to address apathy and responsibility, and not from just MY point-of-view, but from MANY. We are going to actually interview people and share those chats here. Things are getting stale and it's time for some change.

Tonight, I will post about the Tri-Board Meeting that is scheduled for 6:30 at the Town Hall, and THEN, it's ON!

 QUAD Board Meeting                                                      3-28-2017

Yup, it is now a bi-annual meeting of FOUR boards instead of three. The CAC is now a part of this project, and that's a good thing.

Who better to consult the Planning and Zoning Boards about the most sensitive areas in the town than the CAC? Again, I have to wonder why this meeting of all the boards has not happened at anytime in the past. What took so long?

There were 20 board members present and three members of the public. The calm and comfortable atmosphere was perfect for communication and discussion, and everyone was polite and engaged. Many necessary changes to our Zoning Laws and Codes were discussed and proposed, and the general tone was that we need to SIMPLIFY the process for both applicants and involved officials. UNIFORM requirements and an easy, understandable, and standard process for all.

Junkyards are about to become a thing of the past in New Lebanon. Tony Murad had some awesome ideas and one of them was to allow residents to have some vehicles on their property as long as they are behind a blind fence. For instance, there may be a car collector that has a few, unregistered project cars in his yard. Should he be cited and forced to remove any cars that exceed the 2-car limit? No, he should simply be told to put them inside a building or behind a fence.

There was too much talk about existing codes that need tweaking or eliminating and others that we do not have that we SHOULD have, to mention them all here. Suffice it to say, that this meeting was amicable and productive, and one terrific idea.  One negative for ME at least, is that it seems that the majority of the board members seem to be in favor of Dunkin Donuts and whatever that opens the door to. For ME, it's a huge mistake. It was mentioned that we cannot tell a business that they cannot build here or operate here as long as the rules are adhered to. That's very true, BUT, why have a Comprehensive Plan and so many Conservancy Programs if we're going to open the door to commercialization?

If we are willing to become that French Fry Freeway I have mentioned, shouldn't we simply scrap the CAC, the Conservancy Programs, the Swamp project, the Ridge View Protections, etc.,etc.? What use protecting the views and open lands if we trash the main mile with fast food joints? Just sayin! We cannot nitpick what businesses we like or do not like, but we CAN amend the Comprehensive Plan to prevent any more chain stores or huge corporations from opening here and preserve what we have NOW. There are so many other ways to encourage small business and growth without resorting to these crappy commercial businesses out of desperation and impatience.

This is why it is vital for anyone who wants to keep our town rural and unique, to SHOW UP at the April 19th Meeting. It is our ONLY means of stopping this kind of negative growth and urban sprawl. Failure to show up in numbers and have your say, will guarantee Dunkin Donuts, and whatever follows their lead. ONLY the opposition of the majority of residents can stop it.

All in all, I'm glad I attended this meeting tonight. It was so hopeful to see the many members of our local boards laughing and chatting and making progress. If the first one went this well, those that come next should be extremely fruitful. I looked around the room at each face that I am so familiar with, and it was a pleasure to realize that for the first time in many, many years, I could not find ONE person that should NOT be in local government or that has done anything objectionable! We have GOOD people in our town government, at last!  God Bless America!

 Dax and Howie                                                             3-31-2017

Can anyone out there tell me how a Judge can order a landowner to remove something from their property that is NOT illegal or criminal?

Howard Commander built his Moto-X Track on his commercial land despite the objections of a mere, ELEVEN people. I would have done the same. As of this date, the track has never been in operation, mostly due to these objectors filing a lawsuit to stop it. Right now, it simply looks like an attractively landscaped trail. VERY attractive. There is no indication of any business being conducted at the site, no parking lot, no specific entrance, no ticket booths or concessions. I have seen no advertising of races planned for the site, either. That is compliance with the stay.

So let's say that someone bought the old Bouchard junkyard on Rt. 20 and opened a business there. The new owner decides to put in a Go-Kart Track, but receives objections from close neighbors. It goes to court and meanwhile, the owner builds the track and spends thousands on landscaping that makes the now-ugly site, into a park-like area. If the track never opens, so what? It now looks great, and if he wins the lawsuit, he also gets to open the track. Did he violate the judge's order to not open the track? Nope. He "Landscaped" to his personal liking. Does that give the judge the right to order him to remove that landscaping and idle track that he enjoys? NO! No more than a judge can tell you to remove your numerous lawn ornaments because your neighbor thinks it looks "Junky" !

Does a judge have the right to tell you not to paint your house pink, because the guy across the street hates pink? NO! So what right has this judge to order Commander to remove an idle track with nice landscaping?  Nothing, that's what! There is NO right or power given to a judge to do any such thing, and this particular judge should be removed. As for John Dax, HE  should also be removed. LOL!!

This decade-long grudge that Dax has been holding against Commander is getting to the point of ridiculous! It all started because Dax bought a house within hearing distance of the Speedway without doing his due diligence first.  WHY, if you don't want to hear race cars, would you buy or build a home so close to a speedway?! DUH!!!  Same goes for all eleven idiots who are attempting to stop Commander from expanding his successful business and exercising his freedom to operate it as he sees fit. If you don't like airplane noise, DON'T move next to an airport!!!

The Speedway long out-dates every one of these whiners' residencies. EVERY ONE ! Their failure to do their homework BEFORE building or buying their homes, is THEIR fault, not Commander's. They have choices, 1) Deal with it, or 2) Move. Those are their ONLY options. NO lawsuit or corrupt judge can stop the Speedway from operating or expanding, or adding new attractions. That is interfering with commerce and that is ILLEGAL.

Always remember that John Dax is behind this, and that HE abused his former position as Chair of the New Lebanon Zoning Board  to harass and torment Commander for years. His explanation? He claims that when his now-grown son was a child, they couldn't go outside and toss a baseball around on Saturdays in peace !!!! AWWW, don't you feel bad about this horrible trauma?

John Dax was tossed out of Lebanon on his ear a few years ago, and for some reason, he has returned like a bad penny or an itchy rash. Icky things always DO. To the whiners and liberal lawsuit lovers, here is some advice. Stop wasting your money on a losing game. There are ELEVEN of you. Howard's supporters number in the THOUSANDS! Maybe the thousands of US will sue YOU for interfering with something we have enjoyed for 6 decades and has employed generations of New Lebanon's teens. Maybe YOU should think about what it would cost the taxpayers of this town if the Speedway were not here, and not allowed to expand. In any case, grow the hell UP, or just MOVE.

Why don't you all make yourselves a little, "Safe Space" you can sit in on Summer Saturdays and cuddle with a teddy bear till the races end. Or, you could go hug a tree. Preferably in some other town.
