November-December 2017 ARCHIVES

  Hops Crops                                                                       11-2-2017

Are you ready for THIS? The upper-Midwest states that grow the bulk of our Hops for beer making, have suffered some drought this year, resulting in a smaller than usual yield.

The major breweries like Budweiser are priority consumers, so what Hops are available, go to them first. This leaves the small, independent brewers out in the cold. One of these brewers stated that he is literally, "Begging for Hops".  Enter, the Ever-Oppressive, Federal Government.

Small brewers are being offered enough Hops to get them through the year in exchange for them signing a "Climate Smart " agreement. If these independent brewers invest in "Green" technology in their production process, they get Hops. (Sounds SO much like the Cuomo/Obama Safe Act Deal). So, THINK about this. The EPA holds small businesses hostage to further the fantasy of Climate Change and Global Warming, and that's just the CAKE. The REAL issue is the Elitists who are heavily invested in Green Technology and they want not only their investments back, but a profit as well. THAT is the Icing on the Cake.

Bankers, Big Business, Hollywood, and Politicians use their money, notoriety, and media access to further the Global Warming LIE.  Even if it were not a sham, these people wouldn't give a crap about the environment anyway, they are concerned about only two things, money and control. These greedy liars and manipulators have created colonies of Environmental Extremists in every state in America, gullible people who devour the fake research and take up the cause with a vengeance. They are serving the Elitists as willing Slaves, doing the dirty work for FREE.

These Greenies truly believe that the environment is in immediate peril and that their Crusade is a necessary and honorable thing. They fail to see that they are mere tools, being fooled and used to enrich the lives of evil, super-wealthy, control freaks. They are in a nutshell, Useful Idiots. How very sad that people allow themselves to be so easily used, so controlled with such little effort.  WHY are so many, so willing to sacrifice their freedoms and the freedoms of others to live under rigid regulations that make it prohibitively expensive to own a business and turn a profit?

Why would any property owner willingly submit to over-reaching government agencies and their "Rules" as to HOW that property can be legally used or enjoyed? YOU own it, YOU pay taxes on it, it belongs to YOU, and NO ONE BUT you should decide how to use it. Most Citizen Environmentalists generally mean well, but they have been duped, and that makes them a danger. New Lebanon has more than its fair share of these folks and their endless "Committees" and "Boards", and they bear close watching. We also have several land owners who have been under attack for years for how they choose to use their land.

One man in particular, collects "Stuff". Things such as scrap metal, building supplies and tools, usable truck and car parts, extra tires for his own equipment, and Mobile Home replacement parts. These items are for the most part, stored in a number of home-made sheds on the property, none of which are visible from the road or to the neighbors.  There is no house on the site, no well, no septic system. There are no toxins, no odors, and no noise. Is it unattractive? Yup! IF you drive WAAAY in from the road, past a solid, 12-foot high fence.

Yet a former Town Zoning Officer spent in excess of $160,000.00 to harass this land owner, hire a pilot and airplane to fly over the land and take pictures, push a court case, etc. The land owner was dragged through the system, spent time in jail, lost work and money, was threatened with seizure of his equipment and tools, and eventually suffered from severe depression as a result of the stress and financial burden. (This is a guy who has never broken the law or caused a problem for ANYONE!)  A former Town Board ALLOWED this bullying, ALLOWED the ridiculous expenses, and then, when they actually got a court order against the land owner, never bothered to try to enforce it. YOUR tax dollars, down the drain, for NOTHING.

It has been 7+ years since the Court Order was issued, and to anyone with a lick of common sense, this should now be a dead issue, forever. It damn well BETTER be! So why was all that necessary, when the property is privately-owned, taxes are paid, nothing illegal is going on, and nothing is visible, unless of course, you hire an airplane. Over-Regulation and Bully Tactics are what government DOES, what Tree-Huggers CAUSE, and what Government Grants BRING, and it is what these Climate and Conservation nuts curse us all with.

Be ever-vigilant and wary of the Gullible Greenies, the Conservancies and Climate Change Groups and Committees, and demand that your local government thoroughly investigate EVERY government grant they consider applying for BEFORE they commit. The lies are more numerous, much bigger, and the agenda far more frightening than you can begin to imagine. Do your homework, and start by reading "John Anthony" at this link:

Please continue to keep Bud Godfroy in prayer, and also Charlie Lasher who is now recovering at home after TWO motorcycle accidents in ONE day. He is definitely a hurting unit!

Remember to Vote on Tuesday, and keep in mind that Chuck Geraldi is a WRITE-IN candidate this year thanks to the major screw-ups of Jason Nastke.  Also make sure to look on the BACK of your ballot for the propositions, one of which is the highly unpopular and PERILOUS, Constitutional Convention.

Republican Voters are needed to volunteer as Committee members for New Lebanon. SOMEBODY has to do it, and the old, incestuous committee turned tail and ran when Colleen kicked Benson's rear-end. LOL!!!   If you are interested in serving, let me know a.s.a.p.

                Sleep Well, New Lebanon!

Is the GUN to Blame ?                                               11-5-2017

Another shooting today, this time in a Texas church during the service.

As you are well aware, I pay extremely close attention to these events and I keep files on them all. DETAILED files.  That's why I know that thus far, all the shooters have been either Muslim or Liberal. I also know that many of these shootings are fake and some are real, and all too often the killers are, 1) Over-Medicated by incompetent doctors, 2) Have some type of connection to the government either personally or within their family, and 3) Have been heavily indoctrinated. Another thing that is inarguable, is that the shooters are always killed by the police or commit suicide immediately after they have accomplished their "mission".  Dead men tell no tales

Another fact about these shootings is the convenient timing of them and how they seem to occur in "clusters". These cluster shootings consistently coincide with upticks in Democrat demands for more, stringent gun regulations.  Since Obama first took office, incidents of mass shootings have increased so dramatically, that between 2008 and today, the total mass shootings outnumber all that have occurred in our history prior to 2008, COMBINED. Let that sink in.

We know the huge part that Obama played in cursing NY State with the Safe Act, and we know that he was neck-deep in the fake, Sandy Hook Show.  The fact that he is no longer President does not mean that his Disarmament Agenda and the players IN it, have gone away. Quite the opposite. The desperation of the Left to leave Americans helpless and vulnerable via disarmament, has only GROWN since the Democrats' failure to install their Queen as President.

Until and unless the Left finally "Gets It" that Americans of sound mind and clean records have a Constitutionally Guaranteed RIGHT to own and bear arms, and BACK OFF already, innocent people will continue to die. The Left will continue to kill in their alleged quest to "Stop the Killing".

You have never seen Conservatives, Christians, or Law-Abiding Gun Owners commit a mass shooting or act of terror, you have never seen them destroying monuments, looting stores, burning city blocks or assaulting police officers, and you have never seen US protesting while dressed as vaginas. It is the Left, and ONLY the Left, that does these insane things, yet their media blames the Right?   It is more than obvious that the major problems in our society today, lie in Liberalism. Nothing in the history of the world, has been as destructive to our lives and traditions as Liberalism.

If we could outlaw or eradicate Liberalism, we could once again live in relative peace and unity, enjoy our freedoms, rebuild our economy, and restore our faith and morality. Sadly, the world doesn't work that way and it shouldn't.  The Freedom to Differ is vital to us all, and besides, we know that trying to teach a Liberal about Truth and Common Sense is akin to bailing out the Atlantic with a teaspoon.

We must allow the Left their freedom to be misled and destructive but we do NOT have to allow them to restrict OUR rights in the process.  We cannot allow their evil devices such as mass shootings, real or fake, riots, fake news, and whining, to influence OUR values and beliefs.

Those who are Godless are open doors to Evil, and you cannot be both a Liberal and a Believer. Do not become a victim of their propaganda, their attempts to yank your heartstrings to gain submission to their will. It is THEY who will one day answer for the innocent blood that has been spilled. FIGHT for your God-Given Rights, DO what you know in your heart to be good and right, and never, ever give in to Liberal Bullies.

Guns don't kill, PEOPLE kill. Guns are not Evil, PEOPLE are Evil.  When it comes to having their way, there is no price too high for the Left. What on earth would make a dishonorably-discharged, Air Force Veteran, invade the sanctity of a church service and murder strangers, including small children? Did the rifle make him do it, did that inanimate object make that decision? Or, did a Godless Society of selfish, immature, and heartless people with no respect for human life, cause him to do it?  Did the Terrorist who ran down and killed 8 people in NY City last week, kill those innocent people because he had a big truck, or because he had a sick heart and mind, poisoned by Radical Islam? Should we now ban or heavily regulate Home Depot trucks?

What could have STOPPED these attacks and senseless slaughters?  A good American with a GUN could have. Oh, but a good American cannot HAVE a gun in NY City with its' unconstitutional gun restrictions. Sitting ducks.

The banner at the top of this post is a direct quote from Simeon Mokhiber, the young man arrested under the Safe Act this year for having magazines in his vehicle with more than the allowed 7 rounds in them. There was NO FIREARM in the vehicle. Though he received no jail time, this honorable veteran with a clean record, is now a FELON, for violating a "Law" that is not a "Law", but pretended legislation. The Safe Act is a clear violation of the 2nd Amendment, and Simeon will be appealing his conviction on the grounds of that lack of Constitutionality.

Regardless of which wing you fly with, the Constitution applies to YOU, and whether you like it or not, you have a DUTY to protect and defend every word within it for future generations. You have a responsibility to respect the sacrifices made by American citizens who gave ALL to defend those rights, by taking up the torch and continuing that defense.

Four NY State, Senior Citizens, of which I am one, have carried that torch and will be preparing the younger generations to take it up on December 2nd, 2017. You are cordially invited to join me, Paul Marsters, Kevin Cote', and Dr. Ted Mowers as we lead Constitutional New Yorkers to the resistance against the CCW Permit Re-Certification Requirement. Step ONE to taking the Safe Act apart, one piece at a time. I hope to see you there.

One Fish, Two Fish..... 11-14-2017

I should have known on Sunday that this was going to be a week of errors.

Yesterday was my birthday. The kids decided to make me a Birthday Dinner on Sunday when everyone was home from work and school. My daughter-in-law makes an awesome chicken parm, so that was what we decided on. Most of the family likes plain birthday cakes, like angel food with whipped cream topping and some nasty fruit like peaches or strawberries. I despise fruit AND angel food, so I usually skip the cake. On MY birthday however, I want Death by Chocolate and frosting sweet enough that it crunches a little when you eat it. LOL!!

Having been on the Keto Diet for months, I was relishing the thought of all that cheat-food, pasta and chocolate! Unfortunately, my daughter-in-law and grand-daughter decided to spat, resulting in the chicken being a color close to but not quite, black. This in turn, led to more spatting and storming out the door, leaving me to finish cooking the boiling pasta and browning garlic bread, a few pieces of which also turned black under an unattended broiler. Actually, the chicken wasn't bad at all, just the cheese was overdone, and I happen to like it that way. So Archie, Bob, and I ate dinner, and of course, there was the cake.

This whole thing didn't faze me much, because I grew up in an Irish family that saw every celebration turn into a fight and in someone storming out. I'm accustomed to making the best of it and enjoying the meal. I'm SO used to this, that I am left completely unsurprised and unruffled. LOL!Just leave the cake.

Yesterday being my actual birthday, I gave myself the gift of a full day in my workshop. No meetings, No chores, No taxi service for the family, NO cooking. It went pretty well. Then today dawned. The minute my feet hit the floor this morning, (MY version of morning, which is about 10:30), I started getting a rapid-fire, third degree from the old guy who had been awake for hours and dying to talk out loud to someone, ANYONE. That's never a good thing to do pre-caffeine and nicotine. The solar-plexus knot began to tighten. I managed about a half a cup of coffee before the demands for rides started coming and the phone messages hammering. This is why I shower before bed instead of when I get up.

In between chauffering, I tried to clean the house which I usually do on Mondays and Fridays, but had forsaken for my Shop Day. That went well until the vacuum clogged, (dog hair and LEAVES), and I didn't have time to take it apart and fix it before the pick-up part of the chauffering began. Shortly before tonight's Town Board meeting, I came in from one road trip, only to be sent on another before the car keys even warmed-up from being outside! The I let myself get depressed by thinking about all the jobs I planned to see finished this Fall that were never gotten to, and the fact that I will probably not live long enough to see my house completely DONE.

I've mentioned before that I am not one of those women that cares about fancy anything, not houses, not trips, not cars or clothes, and not appointments with hairdressers or manicurists. I couldn't care less about those things. What I treasure, is my NEST. It's a humble little nest, but it's MINE, and it's a reflection of ME and who I am, and I want it clean, neat, and attractive. Front yard? Mission accomplished, because I did it myself. Back yard? Man Land Nightmare!

Inside? Clean and neat, eclectic, unique as all get out, but very unfinished. Drives me CRAZY! Yeah I know, it's a short trip, right? LOL! What bothers me is that most of it is just a matter of needing an extra hand and some inexpensive supplies, but if is ain't farm-related, it doesn't matter to my other half. He doesn't even SEE what needs doing at HOME. We don't argue about it, but I still make passing mention as often as possible. Not effective. I mean really, how do you not see the house parts with no siding on it? How do you miss the potholes in the driveway that are deep enough to swallow Shamu? How do you NOT notice the peeling flooring that is almost 50 years old? It's all I see, every day!

Seventeen years of asking tells me that I am more than patient, but you know what? That patience is running very thin about now. Reagan is being a handful again too, and last week, she dug under the house from the dog pen and got out long enough to kill one of our chickens and make it almost to Tim Roden's house before I tracked her down. The plan is to go to Lowes and get more stockade fencing to build a redundant fence outside the pen, but I have so many obligations this week, when do I get to Hudson? Has to be before the ground freezes too hard to sink fence poles. In the meantime, I can't let her go out and play unsupervised at ALL. GEEZ!!!!

My 1988 Toyota, my pride and joy, sits in the backyard with a hole in the frame, and it taunts me daily. In my head, I know that I have to let it go for parts, but my heart is breaking, and I haven't been able to make myself list it for sale. Hubby thinks it's funny, I do not. Yeah, I admit it, I'm attached to an inanimate object. I also know that I will never, ever again have my own vintage pickup. Plus I hate automatic transmissions and the Tacoma is automatic. Damn.

Judy Z. and I have a Senior Citizen in a very bad situation, and it is going to take an army to make his life right again. Hoarding, 10 cats, most of which are feral and living on the entire second floor of the home. He has SO many needs that we are meeting tomorrow to address what has to be done, and he has NO family at ALL. The last thing I want to see is a Senior lose his freedom and independence, and most of all, his life-long home, but this is an extreme emergency. How do we balance his needs with his wants? What will happen to his property and his car, his cherished belongings? I'm doing lots of praying on this one.

Speaking of prayer, Pastor James Knox, his wife and seven kids are leaving New Lebanon tomorrow to move to Northern Maine. The Lebanon Springs Baptist Church will be temporarily without leadership, but a small church in Maine will be getting a new Pastor. Arthur Koepp will turn 100 years old in January, and the Town of Stephentown will be hosting a Birthday Bash for him! I'll post the details when I get them all. Our Pistol Permit Re-Certification Protest will be December 2nd at the Ilion Fish and Game Club. The effort has grown at an amazing rate and many people of note in NY will be there. We also have a surprise waiting for the Pro-2A Patriots, something that might just take the Safe Act down once and for all, but I can't give the secret away yet! In any case, this protest has been and still is, time-consuming and a lot of work.  My Oathkeepers Chapter Leader, John Wallace of Chatham, passed away last week and it was a total shock to me. He was an awesome guy.

Our Constitution Study is also growing in leaps and bounds, and I am thrilled, but we have also lost our full-time moderator, as he can now only make a few meetings here and there, so I am now filling that role as well. For now, anyway. I may also be taking up the torch for the Republican Party in New Lebanon now that Bud Godfroy is so ill and Jason Nastke is such an IDIOT. Even though I am no longer a Republican at heart, since they have failed to represent Conservative Americans, I will step-up if need be. By the way, I am supporting and promoting a Libertarian for Governor of NY. It's time for a leader that has something to offer to BOTH sides, and this guy definitely does. Check out Larry Sharpe and see what you think. He just might heal the divide in this state and please the Right AND the Left. This is what NY NEEDS. A Unifier that will de-criminalize marijuana, let those who support abortion and same-sex marriage make their own choices while not allowing them to infringe on the rights of those who disagree. He will lead by the Constitution and obey its limitations and liberties. Shouldn't that be a refreshing choice for everybody? No Far Left, No Far Right, just a guy who respects personal sovereignty and the Law of the Land at the same time!

At tonight's meeting, a lot of time was spent discussing temporary signs and the disastrous Zoning and Sign Laws in New Lebanon. What a mess. However, the Town Board is well aware of the issues and are working diligently to simplify it all. Seems simple to ME. Signs can't be larger than x by y by z, and each business can only have x number of signs. Temporary signs are temporary and each given x amount of days or weeks to be displayed. Signs on Private Property? NO rules. Easy. Town governments need to go back in time and make the zoning laws easy and few, and respect the rights of property owners to do as they wish on their properties as long as it is not a violation of the rights of others. There's a saying that goes like this; “Your rights end where mine begin ”. Want junk in your yard? That's your business, until and unless that junk spills over onto MY property or contaminates my soil, etc. Don't want to look at it? Put up a fence and live and let live.

I am again proud of the LVPA, Ed Godfroy and Chief Wheeler in particular, for offering their American Legion sign posts to the Habitat for Humanity for their temporary, Fundraiser Sign.

Thank you to Chuck Geraldi for his service to our town council and I hope he will now fill the Zoning Board vacancy left by Jeff Hattat, as Chuck is VERY knowledgeable in Zoning issues. Congrats to Norm and Jesse on your elections and to Councilman Dan Evans and his wife on their new daughter.

Tomorrow night's Planning Board meeting agenda is a small one, Stewarts representatives will be there to further discuss the new building, and that's it. The town adopted their insurance plan tonight, and wrestled over the decision as to whether we need the Terrorism coverage or not. LOL!! I told them that it might be a good idea as long as I still live here.

Sleep Well, New Lebanon!

Civil Disobedience and YOU!                                                                                                                12-5-2017

I've been all over the state this Fall and I'm learning about people and places that I have missed-out on all my years as a New York resident.  It has been a great experience so far, and we are far from finished.

Our well-planned rally on Dec. 2 was cancelled, and you won't believe WHY!  A "Secretary" at the Ilion Fish and Game Club "Claimed" that she was receiving Death Threats by telephone!  LOL!!   Who would be stupid enough to bother making threats over a protest against the Permit Re-Certification Requirement?  If we had been gathering to demand M1 Rifles for Open Carry, I MIGHT believe the threats were real. but THIS?  NO WAY. This was a Political issue, and eventually, the truth behind it will come out. So we had 36 hours to spread the word about the cancellation to  8,000+ New Yorkers who planned to attend. One of the Organizers had invested over $4,000.00 of his own money and lost it all.  So, a large group of us gathered on Sunday about 3 hours from here and gave one another inspiration and ideas while we re-organize and re-schedule the rally. Looks like January 13 will be the date, but we haven't decided which of the three locations offered, we will use.

Here's the thing folks, our government officials have over-stepped the limitations put upon them by the Constitution, for far too long. We the People have allowed this to happen, and We the People must put a stop to it. Will it be easy?  Heavens NO. Will it be fast?  Absolutely NOT. We have lost rights and freedoms in tiny bites, and that is how we will take them back. One little piece at a time.

I learned long ago that fighting City Hall is an uphill battle, but THIS latest effort is HUGE, and the work involved is daunting. The Safe Act is, when compared to many other issues, a small thing. However, taking it apart is NO small thing.  We have the Law on OUR side, but officials remain Teflon-Coated and exempt from the same rules they demand that the People follow.  "Do as I SAY, Not as I DO".  Legal routes to redress have proven ineffective for decades, and the protections that officials have put into place for their OWN protection are endless. Separation of Powers no longer seems to exist and the men and women we vote into office to represent us, represent no one but themselves.

Here is an interesting thing to consider;  Andrew Cuomo forced the Safe Act through the Assembly by abusing the Message of Necessity and ignoring the required, 3-Day aging period.  No Judge called him out on that ? He broke the law! Now look at this:

Madison's Militia
Published by Joanna Smith6 hrs

Adolph Cuomo has made the exercise of one's Constitutional Rights into a FELONY. He has placed a burden upon NY State Gun Manufacturers, Retail and Sporting businesses, and Rod and Gun Clubs. He is endangering not only the lives of NY Citizens, but of Police Officers who will be charged with the duty of confiscation and enforcement of an unconstitutional theft of rights and property. He has clogged the courts with trivial and unnecessary arrests under a "LAW" that is not a "LAW".
Cuomo has destroyed the lives and livelihoods , families and futures of decent, lawful people for "crimes" such as having one too many bullets in a magazine or a pistol grip on a Commonly-Used Firearm. He has targeted Veterans, Senior Citizens, and the Disabled. This "Governor" has cost NY Taxpayers millions of dollars with unconstitutional requirements added to our county offices and employees who oversee the already onerous, Pistol Permit Process.
The Tyrant of NY has labeled Patriot Groups and their members as Extremists and Homegrown Terrorists for merely objecting to the theft of their guaranteed right to bear arms to protect their families and properties, even though these groups and individuals have no history of arrests or violent behaviors.
Cuomo has used States Rights to trump Federal LAW and he has neither the right or the power to do so. He abused the Message of Necessity and the 3-Day waiting period in forcing the Safe Act into effect, and used a STATE Judge to determine the constitutionality of this Safe Act ! Constitutionality can ONLY be decided by the FEDERAL SUPREME COURT JUDGES!!
Andrew Cuomo is a CRIMINAL, a FELON, and the People of NY must take him to task for his illegal actions!! Along WITH him, the Judge who over-stepped his authority must be removed from the bench. The Safe Act has reached the end of the road in NY and must now take a trip to the Supreme Court. DONATE to the Go Fund Me and let's get this job done!
https://www.gofundme.com/ny-recertification-resistance

This is what we are fighting, the failure of this state and the people to hold Cuomo's feet to the fire for his Crimes, and they ARE crimes! The famous Heller decision set a Legal Precedent against actions such as those Cuomo used to pass the Safe Act, and other cases that followed, cemented Heller forever and a day. Yet these snakes continue to violate the Supreme Court decision and the Constitution and are never, ever held accountable for that.

As thousands of NY Gun Owners and Conservatives resist the 2017 Re-Certification Requirement, we are working day and night to put legal protection in place to keep the wolves of Albany from their doors. Sadly, our NYSP are the Gray Wolves that will come for our firearms, much like Hitler's Gestapo did.  They forsake their Oaths to the People and the Constitution in favor of "Following Orders". We have heard that before in history, have we not? How did THAT work out?  Look back at the record of what happens when extreme gun laws are instituted. It is a horrifying picture of what we are facing in NY.

One High-Ranking , Law Enforcement officer told us on Sunday that the goal in NY is to become a 100%, Gun-Free State.  That can only happen through FORCE, the kind of force we have only seen in other countries, until NOW.  Many readers will say, "So What?", because they don't own or want to own firearms, and that's their right. BUT, they fail to understand that once the Second Amendment is taken from us, the rest will follow, and the consequences of the loss of those protections will be catastrophic for ALL Americans, Left AND Right. We ALL have a responsibility to defend ALL of the Bill of Rights, for each one is vital to our freedom, whether we like them or not.

 A VERY Sad Day                                                             12-13-2017

New Lebanon lost a very important and unique resident tonight. We are mourning the loss of Larry LaFerriere.  Most of you know Larry, if not personally, at least by sight. He was in Stewarts every day with his little walker and many books, greeting people as they came and went.

For Larry, his Stewarts Station was much more than a place to go to see folks and get out of the house. It was his pulpit, and his calling. As a devout Christian and compassionate soul, Larry felt called by God to spread His Word and the gift of Salvation. It had become in his declining years, a Mission, his purpose in life. Larry wanted everyone to go to Heaven and he did his best to win as many souls as possible for Christ.  Tonight, he met the God he loved so dearly and I know he heard the treasured words that all Christians hope to hear one day. "Well done, my good and faithful servant".

Larry became a member of my family many years ago, in fact, it was 28 years ago that he first took my son fishing. It was one of numerous excursions they made together over the years. Having never been married or being a dad to kids of his own, Larry dedicated most of his life to kids in need. He worked many years at the Berkshire Farm with troubled boys who all came to love him and call him "Pops".  He taught them about outdoor survival, how to eat off the land and build shelters, appreciate nature, and most of all, how to be GOOD men.

Some people tended to avoid Larry because of his witnessing, but that was their loss, not his. He had some awesome things to teach and share. He wrote poems and short stories about his frequent travels and unusual experiences, and though he was sometimes considered to be elaborating, he wasn't. In all the years I knew him, those stories never changed one iota. Truth remains the same, embellishment never does.

My son and Larry remained close friends to this very day. Mike took Larry grocery shopping and to all his Dr. appointments, and some years back, when Larry was undergoing treatments for Prostate Cancer, Mike took him to those treatments every week for over a year. At least once a week, they spent an evening together discussing books and movies, history and the Bible, and of course, politics.  On Wednesday nights, there was a Bible Study at Larry's home that was open to all. It was very well attended!

In the past 20 years, we have not had a Thanksgiving, Christmas, or family birthday without Larry at our table. He was family. So tonight, when I was checking in on another Senior and running to Stewarts to pick up a few things for HIM, I saw the ambulance pull into Larry's home. I immediately went over and ran into the house calling Larry's name, only to scare two EMTs who were standing over Larry. I knew the minute I saw him, that he had gone home. The EMT's estimated that he had passed sometime yesterday.

I have dealt with unattended deaths a thousand times during my career, but when it is your own, everything you have been taught is forgotten, and you don't know what to do or how to react. So I made the necessary phone calls while I waited for the Investigator and Coroner. There would be no Wednesday Bible Study tonight, or ever again.

Larry's only living relative lives out of state, and has passed the responsibility for the arrangements and apartment clean-out to Mike and me. I am honored to do that for Larry, as it is the last thing I CAN do for him.  He had very little, but he gave much.

I stayed near until the Coroner took his body away, because I just could not leave him alone with strangers. He would have wanted one of us to be there, even though he himself is in Heaven with his God. Bob came and joined me there, as Mike was out of town, and other friends also stopped to offer condolences. It was much appreciated.  We will miss you, Pops, but we take comfort in knowing that you are happier now than you have ever been in life.  Christmas will not be the same this year, there will be an empty chair at my table.

Thank you Scott Larabee and Wayne Martin, you know what for.

I will post the arrangements as soon as we get everything in order.

Times they are a Changin'                                  12-26-2017

It has been an interesting month. Larry's influence has been almost more powerful in death than it was in life, and his loss has opened my eyes to many things that need my attention.

Things requiring my attention are hardly in short supply, but some of them are the WRONG things, and with the New Year, will come new focuses. It's time to pick my battles more carefully. It goes without saying that I will never abandon my state-level battle for 2nd Amendment Rights, my dedication to teaching more people about their Constitutional Rights, and my advocacy for the underdogs and needy. However, some things just need to go, and other people need to step-up, and there are many reasons for this decision.

When I was asked by the Town Board last year, to join Judy Zimmer as one of the two, NL Advocates to the County for our Senior Citizens, I resisted accepting the position. I didn't feel that I had the time to devote to it that it requires and deserves. Phyllis is a hard act to follow in this area, and even though I am forceful in my advocacy, this position did not "Feel Right" for me personally. I accepted under extreme pressure and have tried to resign once before, but there was the "pressure" again.

I have a lot of love and respect for our Seniors and I want to see them get every benefit that is available, even though I really  believe that local churches should be doing what today's generation expects the government to do. It worked well for hundreds of years and there were no "Regulations" attached to voluntary work by the people.  The one gentleman we have been working with is 91 and has no family or friends that we know of, no longer drives, and had no services of any kind. For months now, we have been fighting to get him assistance from the many county programs, especially Meals on Wheels, with little success. Every call to these offices leaves us coming away with different answers and requirements, and apparently, the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing in the Hudson Office for the Aging.

Our job is to evaluate, refer, and follow-up. If we choose to do more for a Senior on our own, we CAN, and Judy's huge heart has moved her to go above and beyond, but what we can NOT do, is become involved in their Legal business, medical concerns, or property issues, etc. That is conflict, and it's unethical, and I am seeing just that thing happening as too many people are becoming involved. There are suddenly too many cooks in the kitchen and way too much involvement in this man's personal business for my comfort. Reason One for my latest attempt to resign this position. I refuse to compromise my integrity by getting entangled with the final wishes of a man with no family that is not even adopted  family, as Larry was for 30 years. A very, slippery slope.

The second reason for submitting my resignation last week, is what I have learned from Larry's passing, combined with the passing of my parents. Watching the vultures and power-mongers come out of the woodwork thinking there might be something to "Get", is the most deplorable behavior there is, and I do not deal well with that at all. Truly, who among us really NEEDS anything from an old person? Where do these people who knew Larry for a few short years, get the idea that we need them to make decisions that are ours to make?

I know that the people from Larry's church loved him and did many things to make his life easier, as churches SHOULD all be doing! It was a wonderful thing to see them all step-up and fill the chapel at Larry's wake. These are people with compassionate, Christian hearts, but they are "New" friends in Larry's life, and to go into his home and clean it out, decide what should go where, etc., without even having the consideration to consult with US, his family of 30 years, was hurtful and high-handed.

Believe me, Larry has very, very little, and what he did have of value, he would have wanted to go to his beloved church. We knew  that, and would have seen to it that his wishes were carried out, but it was our decision to make, not theirs. I have had many, many old friends and distant relatives of Larry's, ask me to send them photos and copies of Larry's writings, most of which Larry kept on his computer hard-drive. I cannot fill those requests because the church family already whisked the computer away. They would have gotten the computer, no one else coveted it, but we DID want to download the writings to share with others, first.

That is just one of many, many things that have happened and we have been excluded from, and it is more painful than I can express. I NEEDED to DO a few, final things for Larry, in order to heal and gain closure. Things like cleaning up the apartment, bagging up the garbage, taking his clothes to the Mission in Albany, and donating the canned goods to Charlie's Pantry. Such tasks are healing activities, but that too, was taken from me, and maybe I am just overly-emotional because I miss him and we are all sick and run down, but these are my feelings, and I have to own them. It's just hard, after experiencing such similar, though far worse, scenarios with both of my parents.

So that is another very good reason to step away from the Senior Advocacy assignment. I don't think I can go through this ever again. I KNOW I can't. I will greatly miss the man we have been working with, but he is not at all well, he is very elderly, and he has property. Imagine the long-lost relatives that will come out from under their rocks and battle over "Stuff" when this man passes on? I cannot and will not watch that behavior ever again, and I don't want to be anywhere NEAR it.

Still, I am being pressured to withdraw my resignation. I have agreed ONLY to stay until after the Organizational Meeting when the vacancy will be advertised, but I won't be engaging during that time. I have always been a very strong person, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, but I can no longer be a witness to the worst of human behavior at the expense of vulnerable Seniors. It is strangling my heart.

So, like it or not, I am going to Larry's this week and doing my clean-up chores in advance of the church plans to come and clean on the weekend. I am TAKING my right to closure and claiming my steps to healing. If you see my truck there, feel free to stop in and say hello, or bring me a Black coffee!  I could really use a hug or two.

And the Sissy State of the Week is.....                                1-5-2018

             OREGON!  You WIN !

Good Lord People, how did so much of America's population become mentally deficient? Never mind, we can thank our public schools and media for that. The Nanny State lives, especially in California and now, Oregon.

For some reason known only to the incapable lefties among us, New Jersey and Oregon have held bans on pumping your own gasoline until this week. Now, Jersey stands alone in this ridiculousness. Certain counties in Oregon have lifted the ban and will now allow people to pump their own fuel. Problem is, they don't know HOW, and they don't WANT to !!!  LOLOL!!!!  I am posting a link below to the Forbes Article about this issue, so you can see for yourselves what the dependency generation has come to. If it wasn't so damn hysterical, it would be sad.

I have seen photos of women holding gas pumps upside-down, another one trying to fill her tank by standing a foot away from the car and aiming the stream of fuel in the direction of the filler tube. I have seen cars going up in flames, gas hoses stretched beyond their limit to reach cars parked on the wrong side of the pump, etc. That was bad enough, but the COMMENTS these snowflakes are making are even worse! Go ahead, read the article!  LOLOL!!!

What have we become as a Society? Boys and girls in kindergarten are encouraged to play with toys that are traditionally intended for the opposite sex, even when they don't WANT to. Celebrities are refusing to assign a gender to their babies so that the children can "Choose" what gender they feel they are when they get old enough to decide. To Liberals, FIVE is old enough. Liberal Snowflakes are demanding that the governments pass laws to protect their "Feelings" and personal choices, and they STILL cannot accept that Hillary Clinton lost the election, so they continue to make-up rumors about Trump and insist he is guilty of things he obviously is not. Yet Obama WAS guilty of countless felonies, and they ignored all that.

Kids are now allowed to remain on their parents' insurance until they are 28 years old, and why not? Most of them are still living with Mom and Dad anyway.  The youth of the Left are ignorant of our history and Constitutional Law, selfish, spoiled, and totally irresponsible. They lack morality and character, and believe they should never be held accountable for anything. Are there Conservative young people with similar issues? Yup, but FAR fewer than there are on the Left. The Left is experiencing an epidemic of ignorant, dependent babies, and they are not all KIDS,either! Plenty of Liberal adults are boneheads too!

Who the hell over the age of 16 can't pump their own gas?!! Well, apparently, Liberals can't. Nor do they WISH to. When I was a kid, my dad told me that before I could get a driver's license, I had to know how to change a tire, my engine oil, jump-start a battery, and do a 360 in an icy parking lot. Pumping gas? That just went without saying. I remember the days when a gas attendant came out to your car wearing a crisp uniform and hat, checked your oil, washed your windshield, pumped your gas and then gave you Green Stamps to boot! That was a very, long time ago. By the time I was in my teens, just about all gas stations were Self-Serve.

That was in Connecticut, one of the Bluest states, and here in NY, THE  Bluest state, I have never had anyone pump my gas FOR me. So what's with Oregon? All the little, tippy-toed Libs from California snaked their slimy way North and turned the state of tough Loggers and Mountain Men into another Liberal Utopia, that's what happened. The funniest part of it all, is that the people who cannot and will not pump their own gas or deal with their own emotions and mental confusion, are the same people who think they are most capable of running this country and making the RULES for everybody else!  LOLOL!! THEY  have PHds ! LOL!!

All I can say, is that the Conservatives of America , those who can hunt, change a tire, get their hands dirty, and shrug-off insults, need to let the Left know that we are DONE listening to the whining and nonsense, the claims of "Racism", "Homophobia", "Inequality", "Sexism", etc.,etc., and simply laugh at their stupidity. These are CRAZY PEOPLE, and we have to stop letting them influence our lives and freedoms.

The young couple who own Sweet Cakes Bakery and were sued by a Gay couple for refusing to bake a wedding cake, lost their case last week when a Liberal Judge decided in favor of the homosexual couple. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence KNOWS that this is a clear-cut violation of the 1st Amendment Rights of the Christian Bakers, and that this Judge should be removed from the bench. He actually charged the bakers with the following: "Mental Rape ". Yeah, THAT is how much sense Liberalism makes. The bakers are appealing, but their business is destroyed and their savings depleted. What SHOULD have been done? The Homosexual couple should have been told to find a non-Christian baker and get on with their lives. THEY too, are guilty of violating the Constitutional Rights of the bakers, and should face consequences, including restitution.

This is what happens when the REST of us sit back and say nothing, DO nothing. Insanity wins. Rights are for ALL Americans, and what the Libs don't seem to understand is that every time they nibble at YOUR rights, they are biting at their own. Rights lost, are lost to ALL.

So grow up, Oregon and get a clue. NO ONE owes you anything, and NO ONE is obligated to FIX what's wrong in your lives but YOU. Pump the gas or WALK.
